The cult is willing to allow the baby and mother to go though a DNA test to prove that the baby is cloned.

Why do you ask how far you have to go, and why do you want this tightened? How do you tighten it? I don't follow.

At any rate, I don't know if the story is true or not, but I tend to not believe what is said by cults.

I believe, with all the technology that cloning has been in operation since about 1900, it was called something else, oh yes, eugenics.

Russ, I think you're REALLY confused here---eugenics refers to the removing from the gene pool individuals with undesirable genes, whereas cloning refers to making an exact copy of a given individual's genotype.

Isn't Christian Cult an oxymoron? I can't imagine there being any such thing. Sure, they may SAY they are Christian, but true Christians wouldn't be a part of a cult, and Christians don't think we all came from alien invaders. Plus, I can't see a Christian organization being involved in the cloning of a human.

There can be Christian Cults. Jim Jones had one, so did David Koresch (sp). Any religious group has it's share of cults and fringe groups.

As for the supposed cloning of a human, I'm not buying it. If they have done what they say, why haven't they provided the proof yet? I'll just wait and see a while. I think it will come out as a hoax.

Jim Jones and David Koresh were cult leaders. They may have preached Christianity, but they still had their followers brainwashed into putting them (JIm and David) in a higher position than God. Therefore, even though they said they were Christian, they were not. No true Christian leader would have his congregation segregated from the general population, have them put him above God, make them commit mass suicide (Jim) or prepare for a day of mass death (David), etc as Jim and David did.

But getting back on topic, I do agree that if they had really cloned the first human, they would be supplying proof instead of making everyone wait. I don't think they did it.

All I can say to that is "HUH"?????

How can we all be clones? A baby born of two parents (the Natural way) cannot possibly be a clone. A clone is an exact replica, and when you combine the DNA, genes, whatever you want to call it, of two people, you cannot make an exact replica of either of them.

How can I be subjective and say that we are all clones when we are not?

I am not saying it matters what persuasion the cult is, all I am saying is that there really can't be a TRUE Christian cult, because cults go against what Christians believe. I could go into further details, but not only would it be off topic, but we try to not get into deep discussions of one religion over another around here.

Why would they need to give proof? Simply to prove that they did indeed create a clone. Without showing how they did it, or that they even did it, there is no proof that it even happened. We can all make claims that we did something, created something, whatever, but without showing proof that it happened, it doesn't count. If they can't/don't show proof, then the next person or group that comes along and says that they were first and shows proof would get the credit for being first. Just saying you were first isn't enough to make it so.

Eugenics have always been a controversial topic and has always people in a lot of trouble (Hitler will vouch for that )
One doubt: if they do produce the evidence that the cloned baby exists, then what - will governments proceed with legal action against them (and the mother ?).

Most people have a good sense of ethics, of what is right and wrong.

Even if something isn't an exact science, doesn't make it the right thing to do.

In my heart of hearts, I don't think this cloned "Eve" will prove to be a reality! There have been many sincere scientific attempts, "open book" type of operations, which have not been able to produce this type of human. I suspect that "Cloneaid" hasn't done it either! Good publicity generator, perhaps, but that's about it! They say the baby is perfect and the parents are very happy. So were the scientists the day Dolly was born! Very chuffed, they were! I wonder if we will see this much coverage if a "cloned" human child develops premature aging or other abnormalities! Will they be so willing to put this type of information forward? I dunno...I think the old fashioned way is best! ~Lea
