you won believe it - shephard (actually he wasn't the chief culprit) Mallender I had to search the net to get his name!) - some of his IBW decisions while a lot of the decisions were okay, the ones that looked dubious (like Bilcliff's) etc was more hurting! There were only two batsmen who played for Canada(in this tournament) - Bilcliff and Joe harris (captain) - the latter got out to a sloppy piece of batting - HIT WICKET his backswing was so much that it revolved 360 degrees to hit his stumps! Are the Dutch gone nuts? Why have they asked Australia to bat first? I hope it will not be another murder of innocents!

The Aussies may not be happy with the rain- (170/2) at the end of the alloted overs (36)

We didn't qualify this time. The loss of Scotland in the world cup will be felt throughout the globe. We have a small population to draw on for players but our fans are world famous. Everyone seems to like us-we give of our best. We behave admirably-although we still have a few missing persons from Argentina and Spain! Here's tae us-wha's like us. Precious few and they're aw died!. Please do not contact me for a translation but I have to say. our team may be crap -can I say this? But our fans are something special-great ambasadors for our beautiful country!

P. S. I hope you are talking about football -the beautiful game. If it's cricket I'll put a paper bag over my head and breathe in!

Tealach - Breathe deeply!
The Aussies were lucky again - every effort made to play the game despite the conditions and did what they had to to win even if it should have been called a draw as the game wasn't completed! (You will gather I don't agree with the Donald Duck/Jerry Lewis rules)

The problem with the latest method is no one knows whether the supposed target is correct - the commentors and cricketers aren't mathematicans and No mathematican ever watches CRICKET! I seriously believe that the Match Umpire randomly picks a number and pronto - thats your target! (But at least this method is good because at least there is a mathematical chance that the chasing team can win - unlike the dudes who devised the the method used in 1992 WC - 22 runs from one ball; that really helps!) I tried my best trying to mug up D/L method - tried it so hard (trust me - it is WEIRD!) When you don't understand me, just live in the hope that it is the best around!

Agree with you Ace on the D/L scoring method (and apparently so do the England team who beleived they were in front all the way through the last game but were in fact well behind for a number of overs) - Anyway the point of this post is to congratulate the New Zealand Players in sticking to their principles and not playing their match today in Kenya (I don't think I'd want to return to a venue where I narrowly escaped a bomb last time I was there!)

England showed their true form against Pakistan today - when the named batsman made a few, the all rounders made a few and posted a score (of 100 more than I thought they would!) then the bowling - I think that was one of the best First 10 overs of ODI bowling that I have ever seen, both bowlers giving it everything they had, on a line and a length!! The final result - A very well deserved win against a Welsh Team who tried but were well beaten (Anyone else suffer the button syndrome 403 sky England Pakistan, 101 England Wales) (In case anyone doesn't understand that last bit - I had Live England Cricket from South Africa and Live England Rugby Union from Wales at exactly the same time, being a fan of both sports the buttons were a bit overworked. But what a great result on both channels!!

I am glad you explained that, Fosse, I had NO idea what you were on about.. I congratulate England (gawd, did I really say that?), and the win should have been even more emphatic- the Pakistan tail wagged fiercely!

John, Ain't it good to be English (every now and then! ). We both know we have to make the most of it while we can. A satisfactory sporting day: England win at cricket England win at rugby (the proper rugby) Manchester United scrape a point at the Reebok? (ah..... some things never change!!) wez (PS Good to see that common sense prevailed at Filbert St.) Much as I love all that Fosse stuff....... I'm glad the regulars held up the blue/white 'C's'? Was 'Leicester Walkers' in the equation? (Lineker......the big-eared harumph! Love him to bits. wez

What a START to the Candian innings - Davison is playing the innings of his life here. WOW Anyway Shoib Akhtar has become the FIRST bowler to OFFICIALLY clock over 100 mph! Here

Yes Ace, but, where Akhtar is concerned, I still the word 'bowler' loosely, if you get my meaning....

Things starting to liven up
100.2 mph bowling - An English straight bat saw that off with no problem! (Comment from Ian Botham - "I didn't think it was that fast, and my edge would have gone for six" !)
Fastest 100 in World Cup Cricket - from a Canadian batsman and not against a no hope side - it was against the West Indies!
PS Wez - I had my moment of glory (headlines and images that have been saved from the Mercury!) when the team might just be named after me (lol) - but I sincerely hope they will stay as The City!

Canada have certainly had a roller-coaster World Cup so far, haven't they? They had their first win in a ODI, they clocked up the lowest score in a ODI, and Jon Davison (who, by the way, is Australian, and is only on loan to Canada because he was born there) scores his record-breaking 100. What next?

Actually, his parents are Australian, and he was born in Canada on a trip there, or something. He's raised in Australia, and has played all his cricket in Victoria and South Australia (except for this World Cup).

anyways leaving Davison behind, it's collins Obuya's time now! A Kenyan victory - wow thats spoils all calculations of this group - if Kenya win their match against bangladesh , they WILL go to the super six (90% sure).
So that leaves the Proteas, Windies, Lankans and Kiwis fighting for the last two berths!
Australia's victory was nothing surprising; so I would rather talk about "why the earth revolves around the sun"!

How much more stuid or ridiculous can the ICC get over its Brand protection thing? First the players , now even the spectators aren't being spared! First a South African Businessman was THROWN out of the stadium. His crime : he was drinking from a can of Coca-Cola (and NOT Pepsi who are the official sponsors!)
Now two spectators were asked y the security to wear their shorts inside out because it sported an Adidas logo.

Which spectators were they? I saw the match in Zimbabwe (which by the way the Aussies said they weren't going to play!)today - I didn't see any spectators - lots of orange vests and policemen but nobody seemed to be actually watching/cheering the players or game. Have the ICC found the solution to the security problem - DON'T LET ANYONE IN TO THE GAME!
