Everything should be there .. let me know if I've missed any(thing). this year's comp was the 6th edition. we had 8 runners. the record roll-up was 14 runners in the first comp back in 2004 (equalled in 2005 and 2007). the defending titleholder was ozzz2002, who won silver this year. no-one has retained their title in this comp. ozzz2002 is the only player to win this twice. He won it in 2006 and 2008. Wimbledon Women this year's comp was the 6th edition. there were 8 runners. the record roll-up was 14 runners in the 2nd comp back in 2005 (equalled in 2007). the defending titleholder was srini701, who won silver this year .. same as ozz2002 in the men's comp! no-one has retained their title in this comp, and no one has won this twice = paper_aero is the 6th (different) winner. | AFL Aussie Rules
- this year's comp was the 9th edition. There were 10 runners.
- the record roll-up was the 18 runners in the 2006 comp.
- the defending titleholder was gtho4 .. paper_aero won silver last year, ditto this year.
- for Howie72 it's his debut appearance on the AFL podium!
- buck5ley and gtho4 are the only players who've retained their title in this comp.
- gtho4 has won this 5 times, four of them consecutive (a record for any FT tipping comp).
- this was Sypher's first gold medal in the AFL comp .. he won bronze last year.
NRL Rugby League
- the NRL tipping comp that started in March 2000 was the first ever run at FT, and thus it's our longest running comp .. holy schmoke, Batman, this year's comp was the 10th edition!
- we had 14 runners this year .. the record is a field of 19 runners back in 2003.
- the defending title holder was Howie72, who's this year's bronze medallist.
- no one has retained their title in this comp!
- after last year's comp, four players had won this twice: Davjack, gtho4, Nannnanut and Sypher .. and thus Sypher is the first to win this comp 3 times .. and he doesn't even live here!
- Sypher becomes the 2nd tipster to win the AFL-NRL aussie double .. gtho4 won both back in 2004.
| |
- 4 consecutive weekly wins : Copago : NRL : week 18 to week 21.
- after 10 years the record for consecutive weekly wins in any comp still stands at 5 straight,
achieved 8 times by 7 players .. we are still looking for someone to win 6 straight.

Three comps were finalised during November:
podium : PaulE : Sypher : paper_aero this year's comp was the 6th edition. there were 16 runners this year, and 20 runners last year. record roll-up is 21 runners for the 2007 edition. the defending titleholder was paper-aero (bronze this year), and srini701 won silver last year. no-one has retained their title in this comp. Sypher is the only player to have won this comp twice (2004 and 2006). Melbourne Cup podium : szabs : ElfTwinkle : srini701 this year's comp was the 6th edition, same as F1GP(!) there were 10 runners this year, and 13 runners last year. record field is 15 runners for the 2004 edition. the defending titleholder was szabs (gold this year), and KrivoyRog won silver last year. with that win szabs becomes the first player to retain their title in this comp. szabs is the first player to win this twice (aka as the first 5 editions produced 5 different winners) .. but wait, there's more. szabs also won the Kentucky Derby, and thus becomes the first player to win 2 legs of the FT Triple Crown. and, as if that wasn't enough, szabs was on the podium in the Grand National earlier this year (bronze), and thus becomes the first player to finish on the podium in all three legs! Nascar
podium : LeoDaVinci : Howie72 : srini701 this year's comp was the 6th edition (same as F1GP and Melbourne Cup!) there were 11 runners this year, same as last year. record field is 20 runners back in 2005. the defending titleholder was Sypher, and ElfTwinkle won silver last year. no-one has retained their title in this comp. Sypher is the only player to win this comp twice (2005 and 2008).
| - consecutive weeks as leader : LeoDaVinci : Nascar : 31 weeks straight, weeks 6 to 36.
[this is the 3rd longest streak as leader]
- consec wks without a spoon : srini701 : FT Premiership : 48 weeks straight from the last
week of the 2007-08 comp, all of 2008-09, plus first 9 weeks of 2009-2010 comp. [this is equal 3rd longest streak without a spoon]

Five comps were finalised over the last month:
podium : illiniman14 : Sypher : themonarch this year's comp was the 7th edition of the NFL Play-Offs comp. there were 16 runners this year, and 13 runners last year. record roll-up is 20 runners 5 years ago for the 2005 comp. the defending titleholder was Sypher, and ozzz2002 won silver last year. no-one has retained their title in this comp. Sypher is the only player to win this twice. (he won it last year and in 2003) illiniman14 collects gold for his debut podium appearance in any comp! themonarch also won bronze in the regular season comp! Australian Open Men : srini701 : Sypher : paper_aero Women : srini701 : paper_aero : Sypher the same three players were on the podium in both comps! this year's comp was the 6th edition. there were 11 runners this year in the men's comp vs. just the 7 runners last year. This equals the record roll-up for the men's comp, set in 2007. there were 10 runners this year in the women's comp vs. just the 7 runners last year. The record field for the women's comp is the 11 runners who rolled up in 2007. the defending men's titleholder was paper_aero, and srini701 kept his as the defending titleholder for the women's comp. no one has retained their title in the men's comp, and no one has won it twice. srini701 is the only player to retain the women's comp title, and the only player to have won this comp twice .. in fact he's now won three straight! A-League podium : srini701 : Howie72 : FussBudget this year's comp was the 5th edition, ditto the A-League itself; it's been running for 5 years. there were 11 runners this year, same as last year. record roll-up is 13 runners 2 years ago for the 3rd comp. the defending titleholder was paper_aero, and FussBudget won silver last year. we've had 5 comps and 5 different winners, and only two players have made it to the podium twice! Howie72 and FussBudget are on the podium for the 2nd time .. FussBudget's first was last year, and Howie72 was there 3 years ago when he won the 2nd comp. Winter Olympics : Vancouver 2010 Torino 2006 was the first Winter Olympics comp. there were 10 runners this year and 9 runners 4 years ago. the defending titleholder was Howie72. ElfTwinkle won silver back in 2006, and LeoDaVinci the bronze. that's consecutive podium appearances for ElfTwinkle and LeoDaVinci! for illiniman14 it's his second appearance on the podium .. his first was also gold (the Super Bowl comp). He's gold+gold = 2 from 2!
| Consecutive weeks as leader of a comp: PaulE 24 weeks straight in the FLC tipping comp. This is the 11th longest streak for any tipping comp since the first started back in March 2000. The record streak is still the incredible 39 weeks achieved by Copago in the 2001-02 FAPL comp.

Consecutive Weekly Wins: ozfei with four straight from week 2 to week 5 in the AFL comp, becoming the 13th tipster to achieve this feat. The four-straight mark has now been achieved 19 times. The all-time record is five straight (achieved 9 times) by eight tipsters. We're still looking for someone to go six straight .. and we've been trying for 10 years!

The record attedance is still the 32 who rolled up for the 1st comp back in 2003-04 .. an all-time record for any tipping comp, which will probably remain for ever (silverginger provided incentives to ensure it would set an unbreakable mark; he needed 32 runners as it was run as a head-to-head knock-out competiton).

Another month goes by, and another medals ceremony: - won by Sypher, followed by illiniman14 and ozzz2002.
- the defending title holder was Howie72 (DNP this year) and LeoDaVinci was last year's runner-up (7th this year).
- Sypher, this year's winner, was last year's bronze medallistl!
- this was the 6th running of the French Open Men's tipping comp .. ElfTwinkle (2007 and 2008) is the only winner to retain their title, and the only person to win this twice.
- this year's field of 11 runners equals the record .. the record roll-up is the 11 runners in last year's comp.
- won by LeoDaVinci, followed by gtho4 and illiniman14.
- srini701 was the defending titleholder (5th this year) and LeoDaVinci, this year's winner, was last year's runner-up!
- this was the 6th French Open Women's tipping comp .. no one has retained his or her title .. ElfTwinkle has won this twice (the first comp in 2005 plus 2008), ditto LeoDavinci (the 2nd comp in 2006 and this year).
- this year's comp had 10 runners, which is just one short of the record field of 11 who rolled up for last year's comp.
- won by Sypher, followed by srini701 and triviapaul.
- srini701 was the the defending titleholder, and ozzz2002 was last year's runner-up (5th this year).
- this was the 7th edition of the Wimbledon Men's tipping comp .. no one has retined their title, and two have won this twice: Sypher won the 1st comp back in 2004, plus this year, to emulate ozzz2002 (won 2006 and 2008).
- there were 9 runners this year, one more than last year. The all-time record is the field of 14 who rolled up for the first comp back in 2004 (equalled in 2005 and 2007).
- won by ozzz2002, followed by triviapaul and Sypher.
- the defending titleholder was paper_aero (4th this year), and srini701 was last year's runner-up (7th this year).
- this was 7th edition of the Wimbledon Women's tipping comp .. and ozzz2002 is the 7th different winner.
- there were 9 runners this year; one more than last year. The record attendance is still the 14 tipsters who rolled up for the 2nd edition back in 2005 (equalled in 2007).
- won by Howie72, followed by themonarch and PaulE.
- Howie72 retained his title .. he was the winner of the previous edition, four years ago, 2006 Germany!
- runner-up four years ago was LeoDaVinci (7th in the 2010s comp).
- 22 players rolled up for the 2010 World Cup tipping comp, setting an an all-time record for this comp .. there were 15 tipsters in the first edition back in 2002, and 18 rolled up for the 2006 comp.
- only 8 of the 295 tipping comps (138 season-long plus 156 tournament-sprints) held over the last 10˝ years have had more than 22 runners!
- 5 consecutive weeks as the weekly winner : Sypher : NRL week 13 through to week 17.
- this is the 10th occasion over the last 10˝ years of tipping comps that a tipster has won 5 weeks back-to-back.
- although it's the 10th only 8 players have achieved this feat (Sypher and gtho4 have hit this mark twice each).
|
A special mention for themonarch .. this is his 3rd appearance on the podium at a medals ceremony. His priors were a bronze in the NFL and a bronze in the Super Bowl. It's his first ever silver medal! Sypher has won the Men's tipping comp at Roland Garros and Wimbledon (srini701 won the Australian Open comp) .. giving him 2 of the 4 legs in an FT Grand Slam (a feat achieved by no one). If he can win the US Open Men's comp he will become the first player to win 3 legs of an FT Grand Slam. Where does Her Majesty confer knighthoods .. should we book Buckingham Place, just in case the unthinkable happens?

Another month goes by, another medals ceremony: - won by ozzz2002, followed by gtho4 and ozfei.
- the defending title holder was Sypher (4th this year) and paper_aero was last year's runner-up (5th this year).
- this was the 10th running of the AFL tipping comp .. gtho4 and buck5ley are the only winners to retain their title, and the only ones to win this twice (or more).
- this year's comp had a field of 11 runners .. the record roll-up is the 18 runners in the 2006 comp.
- won by gtho4, followed by PaulE and Howie72.
- srini701 was the defending titleholder (7th this year) and PaulE, this year's runner-up, was last year's runner-up!
- this was the 4th Super League tipping comp .. ElfTwinkle won the first com and srini701 won the 2nd and 3rd editions.
- this year's comp had 9 runners .. the record is the 13 who rolled up for the first comp back in 2007.
- won by FussBudget, followed by paper_aero and Sypher.
- Sypher was the the defending titleholder, and Eraserhead was last year's runner-up (last this year).
- this was the 11th edition of the NRL tipping comp .. it's our longest running comp at FT.
- no one has retained their title, but 5 different players have won this twice .. and Sypher is the only one who's won this 3 times.
- there were 11 runners this year, three less than last year and a long way short of the 19 who rolled-up for the 4th edition back in 2003.
- 14 consecutive weeks as the leader : Howie72 : Super League week 8 through to week 21.
- 5 consecutive spoons : KrivoyRog : Super League week 11 to week 16.
- these two slipped through to the keeper -- late awards of Platinum Woods to Blinbkybill and srini701 for 3 consecutive wooden spoons with picks of zero (A-League 2006-07 season and 2007-08 season respectively).
- there are probably this and other records missed over the last 10 years .. if you find any, please post here and the HoF will be updated.
One record which has not been tracked since day dot is the biggest margin between the leader and 2nd place in any week of a tipping comp; being a comp where the leader's margin was greater than the number of game splayed each week. This will take ages to put together and rank e.g. a tipping cmp with 15 games each week where the leader's margin was (say) 19 pts, his ranking would be 1.26 (being 19/15). I think there'd be less than five instances of a ranking >1.0 in the 298 season-long tipping comps we've run over the last 10˝ years!

A special mention for ozfei .. this is her first-ever appearance on the podium at a medals ceremony!US Open tennis to come
