Another medals ceremony: NFL
- won by dg_dave, followed by gtho4 and ElfTwinkle
- dg-dave was leader (solo or jointly) from start to finish. This feat has been added to the HoF Record Book.
- skunkee collected 5 wooden spoons on the trot weeks 12 to 16, and has had her name added to the HoF Record Book. This is some feat, as only one person collected more than 5 consecutive wooden spoon in ANY comp run over the last 8 years!
- this was the 8th running of the NFL comp; and dg_dave is the 8th winner. In other words, no-one has retained their title, and no-one has won this twice. Surely one of those 8 will win the 9th edition!
NCAA College Bowls
- won by LeoDavinci, followed by Howie72 and ElfTwinkle
- ElfTwinkle was the defending titleholder.
- this was the 6th running of this tipping comp, and ElfTwinkle has won it three times.
A-League
- won by ElfTwinkle, followed by doomed and JuniorTheJaws
- ElfTwinkle was leader from week 1 to week 19 (it's a 21 week comp), and this feat has been added to the HoF Record Book.
- the defending titleholder was Howie72.
- this was the 3rd edition of the A-League comp, and ElfTwinkle is the 3rd winner. In other words, same story as NFL above.
- the podium finish for JuniorTheJaws is her first ever in a season long tipping comp! She's been on the podium before, but only in sprint events.
Super Bowl
- won by srini701, followed by Nannanut and ElfTwinkle
- the defending titleholder was LeoDaVinci.
- this was the 5th edition of the Super Bowl tipping comp; srini701 is the 5th winner.
- in other words, same story as the NFL above. Will the 6th comp bring a repeat winner?
That's it until next month. All that's left is the medals ceremony for the Australian Open x2.

Record Book updated for consecutive wooden spoons x4 (see above), and Hall Of Fame updated for the African Nations Cup (see above), and the Australian Open (see below). Australian Open : Men - the tipping comp was won by spanishliz, followed by Howie72 and gtho4.
- this was spanishliz's first ever gold medal in a tennis tipping comp.
- the defending title holder was KrivoyRog, and gtho4 won it the year before.
- Howie72 was last year's bronze medallist.
- ozzz2002 was last year's silver medallist, and also the year before.
- there were 10 runners this year, one below the all-time high for this comp (set last year).
Australia Open : Women - the tipping comp was won by srini701, followed by LeoDaVinci and Howie72.
- last year's comp was won by gtho4.
- Sarah606 and LeoDaVinci filling the minor placings in last year's comp.
- this was the 4th edition of this comp, and LeoDaVinci has been on the podium for all of them .. his first 3 years were bronze-bronze-bronze!
- will LeoDaVinci make 5 years on the podium in next year's comp?
Special mention: for the winner of the ANC, jonnowales .. this was his second appearance on the podium. His first was also a gold medal, in the iRB World Cup last year; which makes him two from two!

If what I am looking at is correct, there are 21 different comps that are active...wasn't the old record 18?

Not yet, but it'll be broken/equalled in the next few weeks (we have 4 sign-up sheets running, but the comps haven't started).
At the moment we have 17 active comps. Six Nations and Ski-Jumping finish this weekend, but it'll still be 17 comps in a week when the AFL and March Madness start. MLB starts at the end of the month, for a record-equalling 18 comps. IPL and RLC Cup start mid-April but, as March Madness, NHL and NBA finish in the first weeks of April, that'll reduce it to 17 comps. The Grand National is scheduled to run mid-April, which brings us back to 18 comps.
hmm, last time I looked at this I though we'd have 19 in there somewhere for a new record. Maybe last year's calc was wrong (the 18 s/be 17), and that a new record will be established this year; I can't count, lol

All done, HoF is updated. Quiz-Beagle missed out on a mention in the FT Record Book .. we've never tracked consecutive wooden spoons in tournaments, only season-long comps. However, we can still put his name up in lights, and give him a special mention: Here 'ya go, choose one : http://www.reluctantgourmet.com/images/wooden_spoons_lg.jpg This one's gift wrapped : http://www.shanisehandwovens.com/images/box.gif

Last weeeknd, when the Ski Jumping and Six Nations were finishing, we equalled the record for the number of comps running at the same time. The record of 17 was set a year ago. 17 AFL Darts PL FAPL FLC Formula 1 GP FT-PL NBA NHL FA Cup Nascar NRL Six Nations Ski Jumping Super 14s Super League SSS Special UEFA March Madness started 2 days ago and, when MLB starts on Sunday, we'll be back to 17 comps.

ElfTwinkle and her 11/11 is there .. no idea why your 10/10 is missing. Something's gone skewey in there. Maybe your cheque is lost, lost in the mail?

If I've counted them correctly, it looks like we broke a record over the weekend. There were 18 comps running simultaneously. (the record of 17, set a year ago, was equalled last month) 18 comps:
AFL Darts PL FAPL FLC Formula 1 GP Grand National FT-PL March Madness MLB NBA NHL FA Cup Nascar NRL Super 14s Super League SSS Special UEFA We're now back to 15 comps, as three just finished (NHL, March Madness and Grand National). NBA finishes next week on 16th April, County Cricket starts on the same day, and then the IPL and RLC start a few days later on 18th and 19th April, which will bring us back to 17.

Over 6 months and 23 competitions since the last update of the medals tally (not to speak of some free time at office), so I decided to update the total medal tally Gtho4 (7 more medals) and ElfTwinkle (10 more medlas) continue to stay at the top (and will be there for a long time to come ), but there has been some serious movement elsewhere in the ladder! Ozz2002, Doomed, Paper_aero, Srini701, Jonnowales, Dg_Dave and SpanishLiz are all movers up the ladder, with Doomed making the biggest splash of them all, courtesy his 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze tally for the period. He makes his entry into the top 10 and pushes Nanannut out to the 10th spot! Szabs and Ralzz make their entry to the table for the first time!
