What are your favorite love songs to listen to? Most song don't have to be considered love song but that sound like a love song to you.
In no particular order:
1. Eyes on Me - Faye Wong
2. Isn't It Wonderful - Rikki
3. Hero - Chad Kroeger & Josey Scott
4. The Dream Within - Lara Fabian
5. I Wanna Be With You - Mandy Moore
6. I'd Give My All - Mariah Carey
7. How Could The One I Gave My Heart To - Aaliyah
8. Angel of Mine - Monica
9. Have You Ever - Brandy
10. Everything I Do, Do It For You - Brian Adams

I already know I'm gonna miss a stack of them, but here goes.... I'm only going to put one from each band, largely because if I didn't they'd probably all be Beatles and Elvis Costello songs

1. Something - The Beatles (at the top of the list. No question)
2. So Real - Jeff Buckley ("I love you, but I'm afraid.....to love.....you...afraid!" Um, swoon! )
3. Do you love me? - Nick Cave (The ultimate scary love song )
4. Sweet Pear - Elvis Costello ("I bless whatevers in the sky above for bringing you to me". Are they still making men like these and where can I find one??)
5. She's An Angel - They Might Be Giants (probably not what a lot of people would classify as a conventional love song, but it's my list dognammit!!)
6. Only in Dreams - Weezer (this is why I will always love them...)
7. I'll Be Your Mirror - The Velvet Underground (sweet in a VU kinda way)
8. Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues (this song always moves me - I don't know why...)
9. Message to my Girl - Split Enz (If you don't know this song seek it out. It's the sweetest song!)
10. Throw Your Arms Around Me - Hunters and Collectors (The DAAS one was better in my opinion, but what a very very lovely song).

Honourable mentions (because I ran out of room)
I Can't Stop Loving You - Ray Charles
You Got It - Roy Orbison
What is Life - George Harrison
Goldfinger - Ash
(don't think I won't add to this...)

I'm not much into love songs, but I'll have to add the Beatles's All You Need Is Love, and Martina McBride's I Love You. I will also mention Faith Hill and Tim McGraw's Just to Hear You Say that You Love Me. It may sound odd, but I'll also add the Rolling Stones's Ruby Tuesday. That song just has a more calm feeling to it, compared to most of their songs.

I think when you've been with a partner a long time there's always one song that stands out from the all the other good ones as being particularly meaningful. Ours is, 'I'm not in love' by 10cc (1975). Even though the years are knocking on a bit now, we still glance at each other when that one is played.

Love the love songs! A few more I like:

"A House Is Not A Home" - Luther Vandross version
"Wind Beneath My Wings" -writer Gary Morris version (God, not Bette Midler who butchers the song)
"When You Love A Woman" -Journey
"Come What May"- from Moulin Rouge (I know, I know...)
"Music Of My Heart" - Gloria Estefan and NSync
"Landslide" - Fleetwood Mac

I could name dozens of great love songs. Love the love songs.

This is the answer of a very old, curmudgeonly fellow, but doesn't the Barcarolle from Offenbach's " Tales of 'Hoffman" kinda blow these pop standards away?

Young whippersnappers! Cut down that infernal racket!

"Drift Off To Dream" by Travis Tritt

"Make Me Whole" by Amel Larrieux

If you've never heard of Amel Larrieux, look into her cd Infinite Possibilities. It's excellent.

Here's an bit of "Make Me Whole":

I think the angels are your brothers. They told you about me, said your just what she needs. And I find myself thanking your mother, for giving birth to a saint. My spirit flies when I say your name.

If I were to name my one favorite love song, it would have to be "Beautiful" by Gordon Lightfoot. The words are great, the acoustic guitars are mellow and melodic and the strings behind it blend wonderfully.

One of my favourites used to be "It must be love" by Madness - until they started using it for disposable nappy ads!!

I felt very similar about "Counting The Beat" before it became known as "The K-mart Song"

Okay, here we go - no particular order:

You Are My Only One - James Taylor/Carley Simon
Stand By Me - Ben E. King
Crazy - Kenny Rogers
Nobody Loves Me Like You Do - Anne Murray/Kris Kristoferson
Ebb Tide - Isley Brothers
Nikita - Elton John
Michelle - Paul McCartney
Can't Get Enough of Your Love Babe - Barry White
I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith
Alfie - Cilla Black (?) - the original, whoever sang it!

As a totally useless piece of information and totally off the subject, the song "Ebony & Ivory" by Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder was popular when I was in the midst of producing my first offspring, and any time I heard that song I would hurl!

Radioderv, I'd like to put a vote in for "Are you the one that I've been waiting for?", "Straight to you", and "Into my arms"

I think that your favourite song, love or other wise, is dependant on your mood and situation. At the moment I am loving "The Scientist" by Coldplay but it has nothing to do with my boyfriend.

Oh my word! I love this thread! Love songs are my absolute favorite. There have been some very good songs mentioned and some I don't know that I'm sure are wonderful also.
I don't see anyway I can keep my list of favorites to 10 so to keep myself from going overboard, I'll only name 3 :

1) To Make You Feel my Love - Garth Brooks
2) You Sang to Me - Marc Anthony
and 3) The Distance - Evan and Jaron

Man, that was hard!
