Really liked that concept - the time factor adds to the challenge!

I just played my first daily quiz. It's a great addition to the site. I don't make it over to Quizzyland as much as I used to now that I am a forum junkie , but I will be going to Quizzyland more often now to play the daily quiz.

I live in California. At what time will the new quiz be up for me?

Oh, by the way, it says experimental, so I guess you want some feedback about it. I give it 2 thumbs up.

I just did the update manually, to make sure that the system was working as designed. Friday's game is up! (and I must say, it picked good questions!).

I have set a scheduled process to do the maintenance from now on at midnight EST. That is 9 PM Pacific time.

Am I missing where to click to get back to your member page, or possibly get to anywhere else without having to keeping hitting the back button on my computer? Other than that, I love it!

I was cracking up, I did the quiz, had one of my own questions in there pop up, but as I've never done the multiplayer thing I guess they do from time to time.

Well, it sure inspires me to edit really strictly now!

World's cat works well in that format though.

I like it! And the fact that the answers don't come out until the next day means that cheats can't prosper. (unless they are really desperate!)
Nice one, Terry.

LOL, Bertho! I had a quite a few lucky guesses in there; I do not know one word in Portuguese, and am not much better in French

I was quite surprised to see my score at the end (I would have been happy with 12 or 13 correct).

Terry- just out of curiosity, will you be factoring a "time factor" into the scoring? I see one high score right now where the person took enough time (over 15 minutes) that they probably were looking up the answers! Not a big deal, as this is for fun, but it might be a nice touch.

Hey, Quizzyland oldsters, how many of you remember the days when all quiztaking was timed?

Maybe I got to play the "children's" category! Might get better scores there!
now that we are here, I wanted to know if all the quizzes will be assorted or will there will be a whole quiz dedicated to a particular section?
Ozz - lend me your lucky charm for a few days - need to give it to the Indian Cricket team . Please.....

Actually, Ive been trying to come up with a reasonable way to factor in times to scores. Can anyone come up with a reasonable algorithm?

ex. what is better:
19/20 in 400 seconds or
16/20 in 100 seconds or
15/20 in 70 seconds ?

I simply cant seem to work out a reasonable way to combine time and score to create a "score" value. Suggestions welcome!

Terry...how about for every additional 60 or 100 seconds a point is removed? Maybe you can experiment.

Also, how about some quizzes that go by specific sub-categories. For the world category I would like to have seen the language questions removed and added as their own quiz, which would be more balanced for fans of languages throughout the world. Other good sub-category possibilities would be art, the various science sub-cats, literature before 1900, etc. One other point of consideration in this regard...I think we should try to avoid as much as possible a biased towards questions based solely on U.S. pop culture. How this would be done? I don't know...

I think Im going to do:

score = (questions correct * 100) - (total time taken * 2)

so 20/20 in 500 seconds (looking up most answers) gives a score of 2000 - 1000 = 1000

a 20/20 in 150 seconds (reasonable time) gives a score of 2000 - 300 = 1700

a 18/20 in 150 seconds gives 1800 - 300 = 1500.

So an 18/20 done fast beats a 20/20 done slow.
