I know it's not very nice, but there are certain celebrities that I just can't stand.

They are:

Susan Lucci and Shelley Long - there's enough saccharin here to give you artificial diabetes. These two suffer from acute HELAM (Hey everybody, look at me!) Too many artifical smiles, too much teeth, too much everything.

Roseanne - to call her a cow is to insult all bovines. She's elevated bad taste and vulgarity to an art form. Totally devoid of talent, I'm glad she's been put to pasture. I hope she chokes on her cud.

Cybill Sheperd - always seems to have a smirk on her face; a chronic case of AIG (aren't I great!). She just annoys me. Condescending and self-absorbed.

Donna Douglas and Connie Stevens (remember 'The Beverly Hillbilles' and '77 Sunset Strip'?) These two are older than dirt, but still try to look like Ellie May and Cricket. Ladies, it's time to wake up and smell the Geritol. And the Metamucil. And the Estrogin.

Perhaps you should change the title of this thread to 'Female Celebrities I hate', or did I just miss any references to male ones?

I know what you mean! I'm just gonna list mine:
Britney Spears - Put some clothes on
Christia Aguliera - Stop acting like a wannabe
The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson - Too much to list about him
Celine Dion - Her voice is so annoying

No offense intended, magpie. I'll have you know that I'm very democratic and non-sexist in my hatred.

It's just that no males come to mind. I'll work on it.

Barbra Streisand and Vanessa Redgrave.

I thought a Celebrity had a right to be loved by the people enshrined in the US constitution?

Just a 'suggestion,' when mentioning a celbrity that you dislike, how about telling us WHY you don't like this person? Do they rub you the wrong way? Do you not like how they conduct themselves? They had a bad hair day or insulted your favourite snack? That way this thread can be more of a 'oh, yeah... maybe I wouldn't like them either' instead of a straight list of celebrities which are disliked for one reason or another that we don't know.

Well there are lots of celebrities from this side of the world that I don't like but in the spirit of being more international I would like to nominate Jenny Jones. We get her show here and it is the most utter drivel. Obviously the show is completely devoid of any class or real substance so I wont go on and on about the show itself but what bothers me about the woman is the fact that she seems to pretend to care about the subjects of her shows but you know she is just laughing her head off at them and rubbing her hands together gleefully and thinking "wow, this tale of a 14 year old girl getting pregnant by a 47 year old Ku Klux Klan member, ex jailbird, cross dressing man currently awaiting his trial for armed robbery makes great TV! I will tell her to be nicer to her mother and I will look so caring!"
Stop it Jenny!!
PS. I know where the "Off Switch" is and should use it but my other half watches it just as one can't seem to take their eyes off a car crash!

Good point, ladymac. Redgrave for being an anti-Semite; Streisand for blabbing on about politics, about which she has the insight of a plasmodium, and Kathie Lee... well, does that one even REQUIRE explication?

Kathie Lee is just annoying. Same with Kelly.

In Buffalo, there is this one really annoying woman who hosts "AM Buffalo." Why don't I like her? Because not only is she not the brightest bulb in the sky (she once said that most people from Buffalo fly to Toronto to catch shows - yeah! right! It would take more time to go through security than actual fly-time!), but when she interviews people she ends up talking about herself more than anything else. I think when Robert Wagner was on the show she interrupted him. When she stopped talking I think Robert replied "Well, getting back to what I was talking about..." So funny!

That's also why I don't like Oprah Winfrey - she seems to make everything a crusade and everything personal to her. And she keeps interrupting her guests! Do the 'I see' or 'yes' answers, fine... but it seems like whenever I've seen her show she'll add something like "Oh, that happened to me" or "I know how you feel" which breaks up the other person's concentration.

And I don't like Charlotte Church - yeah, sure, she's got a great voice now. But the way she's going she won't have it in 10 years. At the age she was/is she's putting so much strain on her vocal chords that I'd be surprised if she can still sing into her 30s.

I agree with the Charlotte Church, Lady MacB! One day she was a pre-adolescent phenom and the next singing mature "love" numbers in a provocative dress! Dunno what happened there! Her voice is fine, but everything is so "manufactured"!

Kathie Lee always bugged me too, but Kelly Rippa is even worse! NO depth...silly insight...and those COMMERCIALS! Hair products...........dumb in conception and so badly presented!

And just WHY is Charles Barkley on CNN? My gawd! If he could string two sentences together it would be something...or maybe two thoughts? Are they trying to appeal to a varied audience? I dunno! They got me there.

I must think on this one! I'm sure there are many more! But on the other hand, WHO wants to listen to ME????

Redgrave: Pro-Palestinian or even anti-Israeli does not mean anti-Semitic.

All

1) Who is this Kathie Lee everyone seems to detest? Someone educate me please.
2) It is very wrong to dislike Celebrities, they need your love. To paraphrase J.M. Barrie "Every time a person says they hate a Celebrity a Celebrity dies!"

Kathie Lee Gifford is the former co-host of the TV show "Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee." It was a morning talk-show that many stay-at home women would watch. The first 15 minutes of the show was usually Kathie Lee bragging about her kids or telling a story of what they did. She had a line of clothes that were, it was later found out, made in a sweatshop so there was a huge controversy. And then her husband admitted to having had an affair, yet (I think) she still kept him around.

To Teilhard: touche... Redgrave has been clever enough to tailor some of her public utterances; I still question her motivations. She is a supporter of terrorism against the Jewish state, and at some extreme point the distinction you make, clearly valid in so many instances, begins to blur a bit.

But on to others: I do not hate Martha Stewart with the ferocity that many women of my acquaintance do. That being said, the cult of personality that has grown up around her is nauseating. Her business ethics and recipes both apparently leave much to be desired, and as for the facade she has created, one need only pick up an unauthorized biog to find out how wretched her personal and inner life actually is. Greatest moments: shows with her mom making Polish delicacies as Martha suggests "creme fraiche" for the blintzes. IS NOTHING SACRED??

Help me, I must be becoming a vegetable...but I cannot think of anyone I really hate on TV or the movies..am I becoming a marshmallow?
Russell Crow perhaps...
I can only think of people I like...guys, this is serious...I'm a Pollyanna!
Come on, I really can't come up with any celebrity I hate...this is serious, never happened before...might as well sit in a rocking chair and drool.

Joan Rivers? No, she's clever...

I'm still thinking, but I might need help, I need someone obnoxious...

Even Julia Roberts doesn't inspire hate...

Obnoxious? I think you have that covered with Russell Crowe haha.. Boy that man has an ego and a half.. Someone remind him he's an actor quick. A fine actor at that, but he is hardly shaping the world..

Avril Lavigne - in almost every interview I've ever heard or read of her, she has to mention that her music is "punk". I always want to scream, "Punk? Little girl, you're about as pop as pop can be. If you had 4 back-up singers, you'd be the 2nd coming of the Spice Girls!" Besides, she used to be a country singer before going "alternative" (that's about as much as I'll give her).

Martha Stewart - She could make a topiary out of broken shards of glass or anything else for that matter-- well, on second though, she apparently she couldn't make a topiary out of the ImClone insider trading scandal she got herself involved in. In her immortal words, "I'll cherish it forever."

Christina Aguilera - I know what a "girl wants"-- "Girl wants some ho ho's, some pizza, some fatty pork rinds, anything! Eat something!" What is with her hair? It looks like someone tried to put blonde extensions in it, then ran out and decided, "Oh, black is close to blonde. We'll just do it that way." (Yeah, that one was kind of weak, but you'd think she wouldn't TRY to make herself look like Dee Snyder, the lead singer of Twisted Sister!)

Scott Stapp (the lead singer of Creed) - He sounds EXACTLY like Eddie Vedder. His voice just makes me wish I were deaf.

Mariah Carey - Whoa. I don't even know where to begin with her. I'll just let you all form your own opinions on why I can't stand her. They're probably all right.

Whitney Houston - I am sure if the Partnership for a Drug Free America wanted to scare people into not doing drugs, they'd just put up a picture of her. Drugs are bad.

Michael Jackson - Please stop with the plastic surgery! You already look like an alien! You could be an extra on Star Trek. While I'm giving you advice, don't dangle your kids from balconies.

Wow, I hate a lot of people apparently. Go me. I'm so bitter! Sorry if I ragged on any of your favorites, but those people irritate me more than you'll ever know!

I have got to agree with the Avril Levigne thing Logan. Sk8er Boi? Oh please.
Also have to agree about Charlotte Church stick to what you know best girl. A 15 year old saying that the New York Fire Department got an undeserved celebrity status after September 11th and that the American people should get a little perspective needs a good talking to.

Can't agree enough about the Avril Lavigne thing. When I first saw her video "Complicated" I thought Oh cool,a chick punk! So I bought her CD,and though it's good,it's so not even close to punk. And she claims to be this complete skate rat and I heard all she can do is go back and forth.(And here she is singing about being yourself and not a poser! *cough, hypocrite! cough, cough*)
I remember hearing about the comment Charlotte Church made about September 11 on SNL's Weekend Update. Tina Fey was all,"Keep in mind she's only 15,and when she grows up she's gonna be fat !"

I HATE Joan Rivers, not only is her voice annoying but she thinks that she is the last word on anything. And that whole thing she did with going on a bunch of talk shows trying to find a husband for her daughter, get a life woman.

She is one of the reasons teens today have eating disorders saying that women like Janine Garaffalo are fat and ugly, then saying that Calista Flockhart has it right . Somebody please take her off the air.

Looks like it will have to be Russell Crowe then. I think the reason i'm not coming up with anyone is that I don't watch English speaking TV unless I'm in a hotel or traveling.

Oh I know! So shoot me, I cannot stand Phoebe on Friends..
I have trained myself to be able to watch an episode to be companionable to the kids, but it's hard!

Oh, I love Russell Crowe.

I really get a big kick out of Martha Stewart. Heather, you know, if Martha sets out to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, first she bakes a loaf of homemade bread, then she fixes a batch of fresh grape jelly, and then she grinds her own peanuts up for peanut butter--I mean, Martha, give people a break! It's a sandwich--not a 12-tiered wedding cake---open the package, take out two slices of bread. Unscrew the lid of a jar of jelly and spread it on one slice. Unscrew the lid off a jar of peanut butter, spread some on the other slice--And slap the two together!!

Julia Roberts--I don't like her acting. I think it's that she plays "Julia" over and over in every role. I'm sure she's a fine woman, but I don't enjoy watching her on the screen. Luckily for her, I am in the minority--or she wouldn't be paid all that money. Actually, I'm not a big Meg Ryan fan, either. It's her hair. I can't concentrate on her acting, because of her terrible, limp, bad hair-do. I'm that frivilous, I guess.
