I posted this question in Feedback, but I didn't get any help. So I'm thinking it must be my computer. This has happened ever since I got my new computer. Now that I have cable, it just happens faster! When I try to sign in on Multiplayer I can put in my name, my password, and click to sign in, but then I get a message telling me that the server is not resonding, try again later. I try at all hours. My cookies are enabled. What could I be doing wrong?

I was talking to TW about this issue yesterday June. When I use Internet Explorer (6) I have no problem with multiplayer. I also use the Mozilla 1.2.1 browser and when I try to log on I get the same message as you do. As I understand it, you are using AOL? AOL uses the netscape browser, on which Mozilla is based. I also have enabled all cookies, to no avail. It would be interesting to find out if any other AOL users have the same problem. I am going to ask for help at the mozilla website also, and will keep you posted.

You might try downloading I.E. from microsoft and see if that works.

Good Luck!

I use CompuServe Ruddog. And of course, it is owned now by AOL. I really, REALLY don't like AOL.

I'll try your suggestion. Thanks.

Egad! All this time, and I've been so stupid......
I just logged off of CompuServe and switched to IE (which is already on my computer and which I only occasionally use). Multi came right up. So much for AOL and their totally screwing up CompuServe! Although I must admit it was running fine on CS before I got the new computer. By the way, I'm running Windows 98.

Thanks much for your help. Do keep me informed re your results with mozilla.

Just thinking about the Mozilla problem and wonder if it's anything to do with the fact of it being a new browser version. A feature of the Opera browser made me think this.

Opera gives the user the option of identifying to sites as more common types of browser. It does this because some sites have scripts that look for specific browser versions of IE or Netscape. Unless they find them, access to the sites may not be allowed.

It doesn't say why they might not allow access but my guess would be that it is because sites are often written with specific browsers in mind and they just won't look, or even work, right in others.

I have experimented with various sites using Opera in this respect. I changed Opera's browser identification on various sites. Whilst this didn't actually lock me out of any, I did find that some pages would not display at all well unless I opted to identify Opera as IE or earlier versions of Netscape.

I can't say that the Mozilla access difficulty is because of this but it could be a reason.
