I use desert, I find it easy on the eye.

Desert is easy on the eyes! I had always used default (the blue) but after reading Sue's post about desert I decided to give it a try. I think I will leave it like this a few days and see if I want to keep it. As much time as I spend here, I need something easy on the eyes.

How do you change it?
How do you get an image?
I'm intrigued, I've tried most sites that have been advised, but I can't seem to find a picture, or transfer it to here.
I'd like to be enscapulated by a 'picture', I just don't know how to do it.
Help accepted.
P.S. I've been to avatar and then it seems to go wrong.

Go into "My Home", click on "display preferences" and find where it asks "What style sheet (skin) would you prefer" (I don't know if that is exact wording or not, but it gives you the idea of what it says." You can change your display from there.
There are several helpful threads in the Computers and Technology forum that will help with getting a picture. One thing to remember is once you get the url for your avatar in, you have to retype your password before it will work.

Colours are changing fine, where do I get my avatar from?
Sounds like a question from Harry Potter.

Try a google search for gifs or avatars. If you have something specific you are looking for type in a search for that. I got the one I am currently using by typing in a search for cow gifs.

I use infopop. It's bland but pleasant to look at.

I use the BIG blues! I tried "wild" for awhile a few months ago, but if a contributor chose one particular colour for their text (and I now forget which one it was) I could not read their post! Still blue for me!

I got a picture, went to rancho, transferred here, but nothing shows, can anyone tell me where I went wrong? It might have something to do with the size, how do I get the right size?

Your spelling sweetie, rancho has an 'h' in it, what you typed as the location was 'rancoweb.com'. Edit your spelling and all should work.

No, no Russ5, that new url will not work! You have put something from your own computer, you must upload it to a website first before you link to it.

Yes, Russ, like Sue said. Find a picture you like, put it in My Pictures in your computer, edit it, if necessary to be a JPEG or GIF file, then go to ranchoweb and upload, then wait and wait for about five minutes, then click on the file with the picture you want in it....then when it shows up, right click to copy the URL, and paste it in FT where you want your pic to be, then be sure to click the button at the bottom in FT to secure your changes! Maybe someone already told you all this!

You're quite welcome Rudogg. I find it's interesting to mess about to see what all the little options are in a program. Also, it's interesting how many of us use the large print. Then we don't have to use glasses . I tried the large print but it just seems toooo large for me. Of course I did not have to use my glasses either! I think I'll try it again giving it a bit longer to get used to it.
