For those who know Wembley Stadium, here is what it looks like today.
Only another 3 years to wait until England has a new national stadium...

It is indeed sad to compare it in its former glory to it's current appearence. There is a lot of speculation as to what should be done with the towers. Any ideas on what should be done with them?
Edited due to bad eyesight on my part!!!

The twin towers will be demolished today. They have a webcam set up, which updates itself every 30 seconds here
and is focused on the towers themselves. I'll be keeping it open in a browser that's for sure.

Nice link SG......

Looks like a typical English working day at the moment. i.e. nothing's moving!

Brent Council eh?....... you've gotta love 'em?

Let's hope the new stadium is a little more comfortable with better views. It'll never have the atmospere though.

A sad day with a tinge of happiness.

When, say in how many hours, is it going to happen? Is it going to be a brick by brick thing or a big explosion?

Yep, I'll agree with that wez. I've had some of the worst seats you can expect in that stadium for finals, but the atmos was something that can never be forgot.
I've no idea exactly when and how they're demolishing them though. I'll have a check of the sports news channel here for more info...

lol, expect them when you least expect them.

Found this ... "Wembley Stadium's famous Twin Towers, which stood as icons of world sport for 80 years, will be demolished today Friday, February 7th at 2:00pm GMT. "

And it looks like it's going to be an explosion one. What a shame they can't be rebuilt.

The link earlier in the this thread to the gallery of pictures is great .. .those rainbow ones are excellent!

I'm really not sure that the webcam is live. It's 10:20am and broad daylight is outside, yet it looks like sunrise there. It has to be on Sky News or something, so I'll watch it on that.

That's London for you

It'll be 1am for me here ... I think I'll see it on the news tomorrow.

Was there much discussion about what would happen, was there a huge stink or did the people just accept it had to happen, or indeed happy that the new stadium would be built?

Agreed. You just wouldn't believe the commotion surrounding this! Just been watching Sky Sports News and it's being shown on there live, so I know what I'm doing at 2pm.

Nope it isn't right. It's very light out today, although a little overcast judging by the pictures I saw around 1/2 hour ago on TV.
