I have ever only broken one finger that now sits at an odd angle.
But the Hubby has broken both wrists (one twice and is now fused altogther), femur, shoulder, both ankles, collar bone (twice) and lower leg. Really he shouldn't be allowed out of the house without protection and boy, does he know when the weather is changing!!

What about you?

I have broken my nose twice, both on account of falling flat on my face. This has left me with the feeling that, if I ever win the lottery, the first thing I will do, is have a big, wonderful, nose job and tell everyone the real reason for my black eyes. I have also broken my little toe due to a jumping into a kiddie pool incident. No casts or treatments available for that, just like the nose. Also cracked my cocyx (sp) no cast available either. Though, painful, I think the latter owes more to hurt ego (falling on ones posterier) than to hurt bum. Sitting down can be a problem, both physically and decorum wise!!!!

Toes! Several. I don't like shoes and I'm clumsy! Who put that door frame there? They don't do much for toes!

I broke my arm when I was 7, as that "cute" boy down the lane was giving me the "bumps" on the teeter-totter!

I have broken my coccyx twice. The first time, I was 5 and fell from the top of a slide at the playground on Easter. I don't remember falling, but I do remember not being able to walk for a week. The second time, I was 9, and was at a friend's house. Her dad had built the kids a teeter totter. When you were in the air, you were about 7 or 8 feet up. She was "bumping" me, and I lost my balance and fell right on my tush, recracking my coccyx. I couldn't walk for about a week that time either.

To this day, I can tell when it is going to rain, and if I sit slouched down for a while, I have to get up slowly because it is sore.

About 10 years ago I slipped on the icy sidewalk and cracked my left elbow. I knew I hadn't broken it, but cracked the bone, and it felt it was too icy out to try to attempt the 20 mile trip to the hospital at 2 AM. By the time the weather straightened out a couple days later I figured it was too late to have it looked it.

A dislocation/compound fracture to my elbow is my tale of woe, i fell off a ladder at work, the paramedics would not give me any pain relief ,just gas and air( of which i had 4 bottles) boy did it hurt, my mates at work say i squealed like a pig and they still remind me of it to this day, 4 years later

A broken toe and a kneecap that broke into three pieces when I had a fall. I spent a week in hospital with the kneecap and had months of Physio afterwards. Got water on the knee of my good leg. Both still give twinges sometimes.

Remarkably nothing important

Nose about 12 times. I just have to tap it now and it’s gone
Fingers - more than I care to remember.
Collarbone twice
I did the jaw once. That hurt but it wasn’t bad enough for an op and heals fast
A few toes and a hairline ankle fracture
Oh…and 2 cracked (hairline fractures) skulls
Do teeth count?

All that and the only time I ended up in plaster was from a big knee recon.

Put me down for another nose. Broken 3 times (each time, by the size 9's of a hulking great centre-forward, as I threw myself at his/thier feet.) Well, they do say that goalkeepers are a leetle beet cerazy!

Right thumb, once. Also a sporting mishap.

I am the wrong side of 40 and I've never broken any bones. Maynooth says it just goes to prove I was never a kid. He always says that - just because I never got up to all the mischief he did when he was a kid!

Another nose. See, I entered The Tough Woman Contest, in my wild and wild and rowdy youth, and this Mean mama....well, actually I fell out of a swing and landed on my snout when I was really young. Babymoo, playground equipment can be tricky, can't it?

Also, one Christmas morning, I was whizzing around the door on my way to see if I'd lucked-out once again and Santa'd left me a pile of goodies, when my elbpw connected with the door jamb--hairline fracture of the elbow. Quite painful way to spent the Holidays!:o

For my husband, Charlie007, he broke his arm lifting weights when he was in high school. He also fell off a bicycle when he was a child and knocked out one of his front teeth (thank goodness for good dentists!)--if teeth count?

Two bones in the wrist (Plastered for three weeks from Knuckles to elbow) and 6 fingers (two of them more than once) Cricket balls can hurt a bit!

I just recently (December 2002) broke my first bone. Actually, it was the topmost joint of the pinkie finger on my left hand. I've got the splint off, now, but it's still sore and at a funny angle. The most upsetting part is that I haven't been able to play volleyball for two months now, and I probably won't be able to for a few more!! (That was how I broke it in the first place...)

I only have torn cartilage and ligament damage in my left knee due to a hefty right-back thinking I was the ball. Nose obviously, but nothing else.

I broke two toes once as a teenager when in a fit of anger I tried to kick my brother. He was quicker than I, and he dodged to the side and I hit the piano instead. I don't recall what the argument was about but I sure remember the pain!

Broke my left humerus when I was three, then managed to make it to adulthood before breaking anything else. But since then, I've broken both of my little toes, more than once each---the right one's permanently dislocated now, unless I have surgery---two metacarpels in my right foot, one of the ankle bones in that foot, the second toe on the OTHER foot, and (I'm convinced) my left little finger.

Never managed to actually BREAK my coccyx, but I did bend it severely once.

As for torn cartilage, ligiments, etc.---I have sprained both ankles numerous times, and once even managed to sprain both of them AT ONCE. My right knee looks like a footballer's nightmare, and even has a piece of cartilage that floats around inside the joint. When it gets in just the right spot, I can't straighten my leg out completely. Fortunately this doesn't happen often, and it usually moves on within a few minutes.

I can't believe that there have been all these replies without any comments about Copago's old man!

Come on you lot, his name is Jack, her name is Jill and they live near Broken Hill.

All together now....

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown (or virtually everything else instead)
And Jill had Conor!

Me, I have only ever broken the one bone, my right radius, but I made a good job of it and more or less shattered it. I picked my time well, 13th December 1970 - just two months before Britain changed to decimal currency and I was a computer programmer so had to write loads of new programs for the changeover - and I am right-handed.

Oh, sorry Jill but I couldn't resist it, and someone had to do it

I'm sure Copago will love it Sue - it's very funny!

I've never broken a bone in my life. Come to think of it, I don't think any of my brothers or sisters have, either.

However, most of us (when I say most of us, 4 out of the 6 kids) have weak knees. We get it from Mum's side of the family. I've "dislocated" (said thusly because I'm not exactly sure that's what's happened - never been to hospital.) my knees at least 5 or 6 times in the last 10 years. That's fun.

LOL Sue! He is very accident prone, poor boy, and seems to get the odd sort of injuries. Quite a few times I've had to rush him to town to the hospital. Once with a lump of wood through his foot, once with amonia in his eye, another after a fall off a nmotorbike ... he just always seems to have these things happen to him. But he does do a lot of risky kinds of things too. One of the ankles, one wrist and femur we're all from the one accident years ago.

A few months ago my sister and I were talking about accidents, and she said: "isn't it lucky that no one in our family has ever broken any bones?"
The next day our mother broke her ankle in three places and needed an operation...

In 22 years, I have broken bones at least 10 - 15 times (all while playing soccer, Field Hockey, Cricket)
Nothing serious - just a minor displacement or fracture (and of course that meant that you could continue playing with your broken bones till the game was over and then we went to the doctor)
Nose: two times (I din't realise it - AS a result of which my nose is now tilted)
This list doesn't Ligament tears which happens once very three months
This is the true story of one of my friends : He's broken his angle while being the linesman at a football match. Beat that for sheer _____!

I broke my index finger when I punched a wall (Muhammed Ali I ain't ) but never had it reset so I have a small lump in my finger. Also cracked a few ribs (once when I fell on a steam generator during my Navy days and once when I was wrestling with my toddler I ain't Jesse "The Body" Ventura either, but overall I've been pretty lucky in the bone category.

Just to show I'm not superstitious, I'm saying publicly that I've never broken anything, and I did NOT spend my childhood embroidering doilies in the parlour but most often climbing trees taller than a two story house and contemplating the world...making go carts and pushing them down the hilly streets of the foothill towns I lived in, skating, making obstacle courses, jumping off of swings because what else would be the point, and rock climbing in the Sierras.
My mother managed to break her leg while watering her flowers one last time before our vacation, wearing her thongs...they were summarily dismissed and no one ever had the right to wear them again...sorry, all you jokers, I mean the zoris, flip flops...not the other kind, sorry mom if you're reading this...
Dad broke his leg doing a cannonball dive into a river...miscalculating the depth of said river...
All males in my dad's family break their noses, only one has resisted...they either hit a plate glass door or else play football and run into someone...my brother managed the later way, I took him to the hospital.
My sister was just, well, attacked by a weirdo while out for a walk, who hit her face with a newspaper from his bike...and she thought she was next in line...thank God she was ok...but scratched and bleeding. However she broke her one arm when a boy pulled her off the bars at school, then broke it again later in life while working in a ceramics factory slipping in the dust.
I have had some very close scrapes...fell face forward while awaiting the birth of my second child while crossing the street in the icy spring of Pennsylvania and having the other child in tow....God willing, I was ok...but my wrist was very sore from taking that weight on it..it was about a week before I gave birth.

Popped my thumb totally out of joint opening the damn frozen car lock while pushing on it in the -20 weather of Indiana...as I'd left the spray for the lock in the car of course...excruciating pain.
Yet, nothing was ever broken.

My other brother works hard jobs, physically strenuous, and yet he never managed to break anything either.
I often wonder if it's flexibility that does it...
