The sexiest artist thread got me thinking about singers who I think have amazingly sexy voices. It can be men or women, just voices you think are sexy.

As for Alison Krauss, I don't know if 'sexy' is exactly the right word for her voice, as it's so sweet and pure. But there is 'something' about it..

I would say Jon Bon Jovi, Mick Jagger, younger Ozzy Osbourne, the Beatles, Rob Thomas, and Johnny Rzeznik.

There are some people around here with some very weird ideas of what a sexy voice is!

Joan Baez is my all-time favourite singer with a voice of unalloyed purity and Leonard Cohen has been a long time companion to me in times of personal misery but I wouldn't describe either of their voices as anything close to sexy! As for Rod Stewart and Elvis, words fail me.

I have been a little unkind about some other Posters choices so I had better offer a couple of my own for the general amusement. How about;

Janis Joplin, a voice of broken glass;
Eddie Reader, smoke and seduction;
Paul Robeson, controlled power;

and

Cindy Lauper, the accent gets me, OK, perhaps I have weird ideas too!

If this were a card game Tielhard, I'd see your Janis and raise you..I don't know who!

The problem is separating them from their personality and appearance though.

Sexy is as sexy does!! Joan Baez does it for me. Admitedly Rod Stewart or Elvis do not.

First of all - Bertho already said it, but I'll say it again - Elvis Costello....

Secondly, wajo - Yes, Paul McDermott has a beautiful and very sexy voice. My sister was a huge DAAS fan, so I kind of became one by virtue of blood. I always thought he was very funny (am I allowed to admit I was in love with Richard ) but when I heard him sing "Throw Your Arms Around Me" I melted...

I can't find anything at the moment (work has a big nasty firewall that doesn't let me do anything fun - except this of course!) - But check out "DAAS" or "Doug Anthony All Stars". Try and find "Throw Your Arms Around Me" - I love that song!

The single CD I have is Fiona Horne/ Paul McDermott 'shut up/kiss me'. I don't think he's put out much else. I fell in love with his voice when he used to sing on 'Good News Weekend' a satirical current affairs/comedy/ game show of which he was host.
