If you're using Internet Explorer another thing to try is emptying the Temporary Internet Files folder and let the cache rebuild it's store of images etc again. Sometimes the limit of how much the cache can hold gets reached. Also, I think what happens is that IE spends time looking through the cache's vast store of images for the one the page needs. It sometimes never finds it (or them). Hence the non-display of images. To delete the files go to:
Tools>Internet Options> and, under the Temporary Internet Files heading, press 'Delete Files'. You may notice a little slowness in page loading as the cache re-builds but this should get better on subsequent visits to the page.
Once in a while the Internet runs a bit slowly and can cause the problem.
I've mentioned a good few times now that I personally always have had trouble with Internet Explorer and images not loading. However, I have reloaded the latest version (version 6 SP1) recently and have just been to the Microsoft update site and found there is an update even to that. With all the recommended patches and updates installed I'm tentatively going to say that it is working properly at present. I'll see if it stays that way.
I prefer the Phoenix and Opera browsers though (in that order).
