Okay all you 30 somethings ... who was your Eighties crush?

Did Howard Jones have your knees quivering in excitement? (oh, yes )
Was Nik Kershaw hung up all over your walls? (of course )
Did Boy George encourage you to grow your hair long and tie rags in it? (ummmm, no )
What about Corey Hart? (I wore my sunglasses at night to be cool like him )
And Duran Duran? Ah-ha? Roxette? Mr Mister?

Did you buy "Smash Hits" all the time to get pictures of the singer of your dreams? Watch Countdown to get a glimpse of them singing? Beg your parents to let you go to a concert? (all of the above )

(P.S. insert you own crush, magazine and TV show wherever necessary and tell us about your time in the Eighties!)

Oooohh where to begin? For me it was every one of the Duran guys, Corey Hart, Mike Tramp from White Lion, Jon BonJovi, Bret Michaels from Poison, Gene Simmons from KISS (still....... ), Huey Lewis, Barry Gibb, Prince, Billy Idol, Kip Winger, Sammy Hagar, oh gosh! I just know I am forgetting alot of them! I am sure I will be adding to the list. I was such a starry eyed dreamer! My walls and ceiling were covered in pictures. I spent alot of money on all the magazines just for the pictures

Then there were the tv shows! I remember having to watch Growing Pains every week to see Kirk Cameron. I am drawing a blank at the moment on the others. I suppose he was my biggest tv crush at the time.

It was all kate Bush for me. If I wasn't convinced after the brilliant first album 'The Kick Inside', the film clip to Babooshka sort of sealed it for one reason or another. Out of the 80's stuff I own, Kate Bush is the one I still listen to the most. I appreciate her music even more now... maybe it's because I compare it to the garbage commercial crap that's out now - she was/is brilliant.

I still think she's gorgeous.

Ditto, Bertho. Ever since I first saw the 'Wuthering Heights' video, things were not the same. The thing that really got me was when, can't remember what year it was, she said she was having trouble finding a steady man because men tended to be afraid of her. All she had to do was come to Australia!
Going back a little further (indulge me, please), Melanie Safka used to do it for me.

Anyone see "Nashville"? I really liked Kris Kristofferson in that one...

Actually I'm kind of..actually, this is very embarrassing, but Mel's been dethroned by the guy playing Aragorn in LOTR!
Whoa mamma...even from the depths of a river into which he was pitched, he looks damn good.

I must be picky though.
Dan Fogelberg?
OH yes!

Life during the 80s consisted of Duran Duran and Rick Springfield.

I should probably point out I'm a twenty something, instead of thirty something mentioned earlier.

It was indeed the decade that taste forgot. I do remember a tasteful white, skintight jeans and belly top ensemble that I thought would make me irresistable to men along with my big hair. In keeping with the musical notion of the thread, I had such a thing for the big haired, tight trousered devotees like Whitesnake and Poison. Ahhhh, when I think of how my tastes have changed....

oops, I thought I had posted in the Movies forum, well, it was that hip shaking dance to "Twisting the Night Away" that made me fall in love anyway.

Since we're talking music, yes I did have a crush on a couple members of New Kids on the Block, I'll tell you I was twisted as a child I also had a crush on the Nelson twins.

Rick Springfield was my first crush(I was 7). Oh how Mr. Indiequeen delights in teasing me about that one. I love hair metal, so most of my teenaged crushes were in hair bands. Hmmm, let's see.... Taime Downe from Faster Pussycat, Kip Winger, Bret Michaels, C.C. Deville, Sebastian Bach from Skid Row, Mike Tramp from White Lion and Joey Tempest of Europe. And on the punk rock front, Mike Ness from Social Distortion.
