We had a thread like this before, but it's time for a fresh one...I'm trying to think of what would do it for my kids... They're pretty open though. SHow tunes? No, they actually sing those! They get really tired of Simon and Garfunkel, they find it boring as all get out...they hate it...then I catch them humming a tune.
What would drive your kids up the wall if you put it on?

Well, I'm kinda lucky in a way. Junior Wonderful appreciates a lot of the older stuff that I listen to, and doesn't really reject anything out-of-hand. Princess Wonderful, on the other hand, seems to think that music was invented in the year 2000, and anything before that gets a quizzical scowl and a request to turn it down!

My Kid's 22, 23 and 25 (all play musical instruments) appreciate all types of music and will listen to a bit of anything - to deliberately drive them up the wall I play military/brass band at full volume! i've recently found them playing our old 45's and 33 1/3's and enjoying some of the tracks.

I still have litle ones so not much annoys them at this point. Believe it or not, my oldest child never had much tolerance for children's music (i.e. Barney). He listens to a lot of Bobby McFerrin. The one "children's CD" that he does not mind and actually loves is Art Garfunkel's "Songs from Parent to Child." I am amazed that he has such a strong musical ear that he would rather listen to jazz, soft classical, and songs like REM's "Shiny Happy People"

It's amazing how many of my classic rock CD's my kids have permanently "borrowed". Van Halen, The Who, The Doors, The Police, and Aerosmith, to name a few, have disappeared mysteriously from my collection. As a result I'm glad they detest my favorites, which are Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake and Palmer, and Rush.

My eldest kids, 13 and 15, detest any music I like, on principle, despite the fact that I have the originals of most of their favourite, rehashed, songs. A while ago they "discovered" Led Zeppelin when their friend's father was playing one of their albums. They said "Dad, why couldn't you like COOL old music like that"? So I pulled out LZ1, LZ2, LZ3, LZ4, Song Remains The Same and Physical Grafitti. Needless to say, they were stunned and had a sudden dislike for all things Led Zeppelin!

My son was just zapping the television when the greatest hits of Petula Clark was advertised...I heard his standard snoring noise! Funny thing is that he and his sister do like the Beatles and other oldies...yet, someone like Petula Clark, sorry, they just assume it's a dud.

As I'm a kid, I can say this 1st-person. Music that drives me up the wall:
Queen, U2, The Beatles, Kiss, Faith Hill, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Elvis Presley, anything that my parents listen too. Anything I listen to drives them up the wall ^_^_^_^
