Now THAT is what I call an advance screening. The Titanic sank in 1912, and The Poseidon Adventure was not released till 1972..

Haha! Yea, no wonder it cost so much to go on the Titanic! If, I could watch movies that come out decades later, I think I'd hack over the cash too! lol.

Guess the site wasn't a very reliable source, but I know some of the other facts are true at least, because I've heard them before.

Coca Cola's web site describes John Pemberton mixing the first batch of his drink as 'a caramel-coloured syrup' that he then mixed with soda water. I can't find any mention of green.

pj, must be the editor (or cynic) in me. I believe very little of what I read on the internet Most of it is copied from site to site without a veracity check...

The Speaker of the House of Commons is certainly allowed to speak. His job is to keep order and ensure that the rules are followed and his cry of 'Order, Order' is frequently heard when the Commons gets rowdy. He is not allowed to make speeches for or against a motion as his role is to be impartial.

Biggles, the Aussie parliament is the same. The Speaker is (usually) selected from the Government benches, and is supposedly neutral. Our parliament was adopted from yours- the Speaker doing his best to retain 'Order' (usually with a distinct lack of success) Perhaps they should be armed with more than a gavel, lol...

My dictionary contains the following words. I must admit some of them (or perhaps all) are obscure, but they are all part of the English language. Apodous, frondous, hybridous, isopondous, molybdous, monopodous, multifidous, nefandous, nodous, palladous, pudendous, rhodous.

I'm sorry to be so pedantic, but these lists of 'facts' that appear on the Internet do annoy me. They appear so often that people start to accept all of them as true and then quote them in conversations. I will just go and have a cool shower.

PS Duck's quacks DO echo, just like any other sound. See http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20021002.html

lmao, sorry everyone! I guess I'm too gullible. I don't get why people would make a web site about things that aren't true. What's the point?

Don't worry pj. There are lot of these lists floating around. At least it stimulated some discussion on this forum and that is always good.
