where do you pull these from! I was born and raised in Wollongong and have never heard this connection .. I've gone through the list ofwinners from 1861 to 2000 and my eyes are popping out ... closest I got was Archer was from Nowra but that name still meant nothing to me Archer in 1861 then, holy cow, the penny dropped:-

try this Nora:
add a w to your name
and we get to [n]Nowra[/b]

and now have a look at the winner of the 1978 Melbourne Cup
far out!
