I am happy to report that this is going ahead, in spite of the Pneumonia Scares.(The Rolling Stones have cancelled THEIR show!). It is a great relief to all here as it is, after all, the most famous of the Sevens events. The mini rugby, usually played before the big boys come on has been cancelled, sadly. My son used to play and it was a very proud moment to see these little children marching in the parade , being carried on the shoulders of their idols from teams like the All Blacks, and Fiji. Fiji are here, without Serevi, but no doubt they will be one of the most entertaining teams to watch. It is always an exciting weekend for all Hong Kongers. Have any of you been here for it? Only 3 teams have backed out and the programme looks good again.

interesting.

my firm 'CSFB' is the title sponsor.
not really into rugby
but it looks like fun and it is a great athletic sport

why 'Sevens'? does anyone know why it is called this?

I also didn't know that Hong Kong had room for grass fields
I thought land was at a premium there.

The conventional game of Rugby Union is played with fifteen players on each side. 'Sevens' is a version with only seven a side. A brief, and probably rather superficial, comparison of seven-a-side rugby, fifteen-a-side rugby and American football, can be found here.
