Hey I wondered if anyone knew how to rectify my problem: We have recently acquired shiny new computers at work and we are all elated as we can all have our own log-in's! However whenever anyone goes on the internet, we have to be careful because if we go on a site with pop-ups or if we close a page using the cross at the top of the page (We have to minimise first then close by right clicking) then the screen goes black and the p.c reset's itself. It's very frustrating as you can imagine and can't be good for the computer ? Any idea's?

Just to clarify, do you mean that the whole computer shuts down and restarts, or is it just that the browser needs restarting after it crashes?

What browser and operating system are you using?

A bit difficult to say but you could just try a few basic things first:

1. Go to Windows Update to make sure you have the latest versions of everything. Apply anything recommended.

2. Empty out the Internet Explorer cache (Tools>Internet Options>Delete files).

3. Download and run Adaware available here

4. Scan the system for viruses using an up to date virus scanner.

It may be nothing to do with the above but it would be as well to carry out these steps anyway before delving deeper. Have you got a firewall?
