I took this again just now out of curiosity, and there seem to have been some changes made to the test. The question Bloomsby complained about is gone, as is one question I alluded to, and I don't know how many other adjustments have been made. (Still no "maybe" option though).

My first result changed a little (within the margin of error), but my second result changed significantly- I'm not sure how much of this was due to changes in my views and how much can be blamed on changes made to the test.

The direct link is now at http://www.politicalcompass.org/

Not bad. Exactly what I thought, too. Cutely close to George W. Bush, and a little close for comfort to Hitler.

I've just re-taken the test, and apparently I'm now classified as "Murdering Commie Scum" because I believe in free healthcare.

Slightly to the right/auth of Nelson Mandela. He won a Nobel Peace Prize so he can't be all that bad.

Ok, given the fact there is 'no opinion' choice if you're on the fence and that some of them didn't make sense, here are my results:

Economic Left/Right: -3.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.74

I'm near Gandhi and the Dalai Lama.

Indeed he did, we should never forget this when his enemies call him a terrorist.

snm, I like your quote. I respect VDH very much. Do you read him regularly on NRO?

Oops, sorry! VDH is Victor Davis Hansen, the man who writes political columns on National Review Online (NRO) weekly. While on the subject of quotes, what does yours mean?

It more or less (I don't know exactly how to say it in correct English) means "making mistakes is only human, persevering in them is devilish".

I'm nearly smack in the middle of the leftist libertarian square at:
Economic Left/Right: -5.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.05

Transpose my graph over the one of international leaders, and my dot matches almost exactly with the Dalai Lama.

-6 and -2 but there were a couple of questions I looked at twice
(Double negative ones that you are supposed to answer agree if you disagree with the statement)

And it would be interesting to know who fits in the bottom right (Right Libertarians) wouldn't it? Can't think of anyone off hand.

I concur some changes have been made to the quiz. The phrasing is better than I remember it being and some of the ‘stupid’ questions have gone. My new score is -9.0/-6.8 which if we compare it with the old score suggests my views on liberty have not changed but I have moved just less than 1 unit to the right. Clearly, I am becoming a cynical old Conservative as I grow older.
