Are you one of those people who monopolize the listening station at the CD store? Do you borrow from friends? TV? Movies? Games? How do you discover your next CD acquisition?

For finding new music I enjoy, the main source would be various artists compilations. CMJ magazine has a great diverse selection of tunes on their monthly cd. Uncut, Mojo,
Pop Culture Press, Paste and other music journals often feature similiar various artist comps.

Through trial and error, I've learned which critics and which web sites give a good (and bad) judgement of a cd according to my taste. If sites offer sound clips, all the more better. Most new artists have sites that either provide sound clips
or links to sites with downloadable music.

I do use the listening station when cd stores offer them. They seem to have been phased out around here, except at Borders.

I wish i could list the radio as a great source of new music but
that's a parallel universe I've yet to travel in.

I browse the CD store, ugh, forever. Let's put it this way, I could live at the CD store, if I could.
I rarely borrow from my friends.
I have never bought anything from the television.
Movies...sometimes I get the soundtrack if I like the movie.
Not so much as games either.

I usually listen to the music stations on MSN, where you can choose from a variety of new songs and all genres. Spinner Radio is the same type of thing. Real Networks (RealOne) alerts you to new songs from everyone and new artists as well. That's where I found Norah Jones before she hit it big!

video games are actually a good source of music discovery from time to time. I got into Crystal Method after hearing their theme music for the Splinter Cell game. Does anybody else here play PS2, XBOX or Gamecube?

Hello? So far, my favorite game is Splinter Cell. If anybody here is a gamer and you haven't played it yet, I highly recommend it. It's a great stealth-action game. The only other games I like as much are console-exclusive, like Halo for Xbox, GTA Vice City for PS2, Metroid Prime for Gamecube, etc. Another great thing about Splinter Cell is that it's on all platforms.

Anyways, I digress. Bottom line is I hear great music in video games all the time. movies, music and games are all becoming more and more integrated. Pretty soon, you'll only need one machine for everything - music, TV, computer, movies, etc.
