I received a telephone call in the office this afternoon, a young man informed me that his company were sending me a Casio Personal Organiser as a gift, did I want it sent to the office or my home address? What the devil is it and what does it do? I told them to send it to the office, I wasn't giving out my home address to a complete stranger, he already had the office one.

Sue, it is an electronic address book, notepad, diary, etc.. basically a File-o-Fax with batteries...

I have one somewhere, but never use it- I prefer something that will not disappear when the battery dies- a new invention called... PAPER!

Sounds useful, I don't think! Perhaps that is why they are giving them away. My handbag is already overfilled, I doubt that I will find room for that too. Oh well, at least it is free. The organiser should be with me within a week apparently.

I still haven't received the cheque for 500,000 Euros which that company promised to send last week, perhaps I should email them and ask them where it has gone.

A handy item right enough but could this be another thing that ends up being pushed to the back of the drawer Sue? A bit like those wonderful gadgets ordered from selly telly programmes. At least this one is free though!

Secret function: If anyone tells you a secret you just select 'Secret', type the secret in, give it a name and then press save. When you want to retrieve the secret, just type the secret's name in and press 'Enter'. The following message will be displayed:

'Sorry, the requested information cannot be given because it is a secret'.

If you get invited to any secret function, such as a 'senior staff members only' dinner etc, you could use the 'Secret function' feature to store the information in.

Hope this explanation of the 'Secret function' helps.

It arrived! I am wondering if I should be complaining to someone, it is NOT a Casio organiser, it is a Sharp EL - 6910B. The postman made me sign the receipt as it was sent by registered post, no name of sender, no compliment slip. Bizarre. Strangely it is also a translator, from English to Spanish and back, no other languages.

Now where is that €500,000 that email promised me?

I must admit I am still bemused at firstly receiving that telephone call telling me they were sending me an organiser, secondly for it actually arriving.

Sue, the Casio is an actual organizer whereas the Sharp EL is actually programmed to track your movements and send the information back to headquarters. That's why there was no return address on the package and no compliment slip. These people are crafty!

I just looked on the Internet for the model they sent me, about $10 US worth! Last of the big spenders, still don't look a gift horse in the mouth is what they say.

I don't know why they call it a sharp organiser. I found a picture of it on the Internet and the corners looked quite rounded to me ...unless they mean sharp as in 'intelligent' I suppose.

As regards the price, an item in Dollars can very often convert straight to Pounds this side of the water, so the organiser is worth a GB Tenner ...and when you go to Spain what a boon it will be!

As the wretched thing was made in China I am wondering why Spanish/English.

Ernie coughed up 50 today so I am now waiting for the third thing
