The Cotswolds and Oxford. Both within a 20 minute drive.

I have the ranch house where the outside scenes were filmed from the TV show "Dallas" not too far from me. It's in Parker, TX, which is east of Plano about five miles or so.

Brands Hatch race circuit is a 10 minute drive from me. The Grand Prix used to be held there when I was young. It's still used for other races and a great day out.

Living in Kalamazoo, the closest thing we have to a tourist attraction is Cereal City in Battle Creek 20 miles to the east. Home of Kellogg's-tours samples, get your face on a Corn Flakes box-it's actually a fun place. Other than that you either have to go to Detroit or Chicago for excitment(they are equal distances from us)

Yeah, that's right, Dave. You do live near Southfork Ranch. It is used these days for elegant weddings and other big social events. My sister has been a Dallas caterer for years, and has delivered LOTS of cakes and canapes to that location. Enormous place.

Closest to my home (about 750 metres away) is a large Koala park, which, funnily enough, is home to many Australian native animals. Further afield is the most magnificent harbour in the world, fringed by a funny looking white building with sails, and a bridge that looks like a coathanger, that you can walk over the top.

Well, where I live, you don't find that many tourists, but I guess the biggest tourist attraction would have to be Dreamworld, which is about 40 minutes away from my house. I can't really think of any other big ones! (Except for Movieworld, Wet 'n' Wild and Seaworld, but they're all furthur than Dreamworld )

Ok, we've been all around the world, so how about my little state: South Australia. Now i don't know what has been mentioned so far, but to me these are a few of South Australia's best options: -Kangaroo Island - Natural Flora/Fauna -Barossa Valley/McLaren Vale - Wineries -Victor Harbor - If your a 'young' male, then i would suggest here towards the end of our school year for what we call 'schoolies' -Coober Pedy - Opals -A little placecalled Mannum - My favourite for wakeboarding and skiing South Australia has alot less 'tourist' attractions as compared to our bigger states (NSW and Victoria), but i think we're doing pretty well for ourselves!

The closestand most famous tourist attraction to my home would be The Kruger National Park. The Drakensburg Mountains and The Orange River both attract a lot of tourist throughout the year.

I live about 10 miles away from Blenheim Palace, and 20 miles away from Oxford. I was born 3 miles from Bosworth Field and it is still only just over an hours drive.Of course, over here we are never very far away from somewhere or something that is well known.

Aside from the obvious casino life in Reno, here's what you can do in a 30-60 minute drive:
North - A lot of desert with great fishing in Pyramid lake (world record stuff).
South - Historic Carson City. Virginia City (the comstock load) and Mark Twain's old haunts.
East - The forty mile desert. Great 4 wheel driving tracks and lots of ghost towns.
West - Lake Tahoe, skiing, swimming, scenery, boating, mountain and rock climbing, hiking, fishing, golf and many other attractions both free and designed to remove your money from your wallet.
This is one of the few places on earth where one can ski in the morning, play golf in the afternoon and lose your shirt in the evening.
Of course, if you prefer indoor sports we are have 24hr, 7 day/week drinking and legal brothels (outside of town). There is even some talk of building a church (just kidding).
The Reno joke is: What's the difference between a casino and a church? In a casino, they mean the prayers.

Well our town is fairly small but we offer the Dalton Gang Museum as this is the town where the infamous Dalton Gang attempted to rob two banks at the same time. We also have the Brown Mansion which is rather benign and of course we are near the Elk City Reservoir where the world record Flathead Catfish was caught (123 lbs 9 ozs). And for many years we held the record for the nations largest recorded hailstone (info also at the Dalton Museum).

Actually, that was before my time. We still have monumental hail storms (like a few years ago when over 89% of all business and homes in town were severely damaged by a freak straight-line hail fest). We lost our record just a few years ago but I will sorely miss seeing our Town's name listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Look at what we are left with. A defeated band of Outlaws from over 100 years ago and a fish that I can only dream of catching.
We have one other infamous event that occurred here that draws ghost hunters and such but as the event in question proved so unfavourable to our town and it's citizens, it is rarely heard of and I should not repeat it here.

There's only one place that counts the most near me, Wembley Stadium, where we (England that is) won the world cup just before I was old enough to understand football. Though it was demolished in 2002 for something that resembles a meccano creation for Blue Peter it is still visible for even more miles than the smaller original version, and may actually be ready this century. The next place is Hampstead Heath with the Old Bull and Bush pub, known by anyone watching the Good Old days on TV in the 70s among others. It's the only pub left round the north end of the Heath besides the Spaniard's Inn, the rest are all flats instead.
Lesser known attractions are the first and best mall in the UK, Brent Cross shopping centre in nearby Hendon, where people regularly travelled 100 miles or more when there weren't others elsewhere. It was built on the less known but far nicer Hendon greyhound stadium with the best neon sign I've seen of coloured greyhounds running down the track every few seconds. Then there's Copthall stadium which trained many olympic medallists over the years, Alexandra Palace which showed the first TV programme in the UK, and the most expensive district in the world in a recent survey, the planned community I lived in for 28 years, Hampstead Garden Suburb. It sets an example of how easy it is to make buildings look nice anywhere without any extra effort but few places are similar despite that example.
