What list are you talking about - it is far too late for the traditional 7 wonders list.

Well, not one of the 7 Ancient Wonders, but it is listed in Wikipedia as one of the 7 Medieval Wonders. Medieval World Personally, I've never heard of the wonders of the "medieval world." Ancient wonders, yes -- Modern wonders -- sure, heard of them. But not the "Medieval" ones!

"Personally, I've never heard of the wonders of the "medieval world." Ancient wonders, yes -- Modern wonders -- sure, heard of them. But not the "Medieval" ones!" Well, you are not alone there, Jar, as I have never heard the term myself. I don't claim to be a go to person on history, but thought I was fairly familiar with the 'Wonders'.

There are a fair few near me; The National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory, Greenwich Park and the Cutty Sark will be added to the list when it is restored.
Closer to home and not really on the tourist trail are the place where Raleigh laid down his cloak for Queen Elizabeth (not somewhere you can stop and look unfortunately - you'd get hit by a truck!), the old Naval ship yards, the place where Christopher Marlowe was murdered and the house that Peter the Great of Russia demolished after a drunken night with his mates.

I am only a couple of hours drive from the Treetop Walk at Valley of the Giants on the south coast of Western Australia, and just over an hour from Albany, where there are a few man made tourist attractions which I try to ignore, and some sensational coastline scenery, which I love. I would have to admit, despite spending many hours wandering around the Valley of the Giants, I have not (and will not) tackle the Treetop Walk. http://www.denmarkwa.asn.au/treetopwalk.htm

Tezza, I have acrophobia, but I braced myself and did the treetop walk. I'm so glad I did - it was worth every nerve-wracked minute - and despite hubby thinking that shaking the walk while I was on it was absolutely hilarious!

I live in the national capital, so there are many things which people come to see. TThese include: The War Memorial, The National Library of Australia, The National Gallery, The High Court of Australia, The Mint, The National Museum of Australia, The National Botanic Gardens, The Australian Institute of Sport, Parliament House, The National Archives and the new National Portrait Gallery. There is always plenty to see and do around here!
