I like a lot of different types of books, I read Mysteries/Thrillers, esp. those written with a sense of humour. I'm reading a lot of Bill Bryson right now, I suppose you could call him a travel writer, I like chatty, ancedotal non-fiction about history, words, etc. I tend to dislike earnest, meaningful "women's" books of the Oprah's book club variety, even when these books are well-written, they're just not a much fun as I want to have. I like westerns, don't read much science fiction or fantasy anymore, but when I did I liked it. Hate romances, except for the very sexy kind (deep dark secret, don't tell anybody). I love reading cookbooks.

Historical fiction, international intrigue ie Robert Ludlum and John LeCarre, medical thrillers, legal thrillers, and any book that can make me laugh. Oh, and Vanessa Carlton biographies.

Lots and lots... for example...
Horror (especially Stephen King) Fantasy (especially Tolkien, Rowling, Michael Ende) Thriller (especially Jeffery Deaver, Robin Cook) good old classic Crime Story (Agatha Christie, for instance) some good, funny, romantic novels, too, like "Bridget Jones' Diary", or Marian Keyes and Maeve Binchy books There are also some classic children books I can read over and over again, like "The Secret Garden" or some Enid Blyton
I don't generally dislike a particular genre, although I must admit that I'm not very much into western or "genuine" romance novels. Never read Karl May, for instance, and I can't stand Nora Roberts. History's not quite my thing, either, although it depends.

Fantasy will definitely be my all time favourite genre as it includes great books such as Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and the Harry Potter series. I also like young adult fiction and some teen books are okay. The 7 books in the Tomorrow series by John Marsden and Looking For Alibrandi and Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta are excellent books.

Right now I am on an Agatha Christie spree, but I also enjoy all types of genres from horror to fantasy. I enjoy reading nonfiction books, too, especially on the American Civil War. I also love reading British history, especially Medieval, Tudor, and the Reformation.

Well, if "classics" is a genre, I like that. And if "non-fiction" is a genre, I like that.
I used to like horror in about 6th-9th grade, but alas, no more in adulthood.
I don't really read in any genre; I just read select books that seem to appeal to me, and my popular fiction readings are admittedly sparse. I've probably read a handful of books in each genre, but there is no genre I can say I like or read regularly.

Definitely historical fiction, especially ones involving Royalty. It's creepy to see such an exciting story unfold that had actually kind of happened in real life.
Also adventurous books and classics, if they count. And science fiction. Harry Potter is the one exception to my "I hate fantasy" train of thought.

I read a lot of New Age books but love to mix in fiction. I am a big Anne Rice fan. I used to really like Dean Koontz but feel that he has slipped a bit. I will always like Steven King/Bachman. If anyone is interested in some great New Age book recommendations, feel free to ask or PM me! Mike

I'm into Poetry; can't get enough of it. Some of it throws me; I just don't always get it. But it always make me pay attention and think.

Superferd (Mike), I haven't a clue what you mean by New Age books Can I suggest you post a new thread to explain and discuss them, you might find some fellow fans to get to know!
