Q3 Hagar's kids are 16-year old Honi, and younger son Hamlet.
Q6 It appears that 'sidewalk surfing' is just another type of skateboarding.
Q7 The 'Melancholy Dane' was Hamlet.
Q8 BMW stands for 'Bayerische Motor Werken', translated to 'Bavarian Motor Works'.
Q10 The spelling that I found for that book is 'Oryx and Crake', and it was written by Margaret Eleanor Atwood.

(Further to the scotch question)

My understanding of it was that the Irish were the only people to use the "e" in whiskey. So I would've said that the difference is Scotch is Scottish and Whiskey is Irish. Of course I could be wrong...

Q.1. Red Cap might have brought back the "stubby" a squat, fat bottle of yesteryear's beer.

Whisky and Whiskey are used with respect to the countries. Check the spellings of Canada, Ireland, U.S.A and Scotland.

'Scotch' is just like 'Champagne' and 'Tequila' or 'cognac' or even an 'Armagnac'

Here is a good site on the whisky question. I think the answer is simply that Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland. If they're asking for the difference in blended malt whisky and bourbon, the question is pretty poorly worded. Jack Daniels and other American distillers use the "whiskey" spelling. The Canadian bourbon I drink spells it "whisky."

What is the difference between Scotch, Irish, Rye and Bourbon Whiskies?

Scotch Whisky means whisky distilled and matured in Scotland and Irish Whiskey means whiskey distilled and matured in Ireland.

Whisky is distilled in Scotland from malted barley in Pot Stills and from malted and unmalted barley or other cereals in Patent Stills. The well-known brands of Scotch Whisky are blends of a number of Pot Still and Patent Still whiskies.

Irish Whiskey distillers tend to favour three distillations rather than two as is general in Scotland in the case of Pot Still whiskies and the range of cereals used is wider.

As regards Bourbon Whiskey, the United States Regulations provide: (1) that Bourbon Whiskey must be produced from a mash of not less than 51% corn grain. (2) that the word 'Bourbon' shall not be used to describe any whiskey or whiskey-based distilled spirits not produced in the United States.

Rye Whiskey is produced both in the United States and Canada but the name has no geographical significance. In the United States. Rye Whiskey by definition must be produced from a grain mash of which not less than 51% is rye grain. In Canada, there is no similar restriction. The relevant Canadian Regulation states: 'Canadian Whisky (Canadian Rye Whisky, Rye Whisky) shall be whisky distilled in Canada, and shall possess the aroma, taste and character generally attributed to Canadian Whisky.' Canadian Whisky is in fact often referred to simply as Rye Whisky or Rye.

Here's another good site on the difference between "Whiskey and Bourbon"
http://nm.essortment.com/bourbonwhiske_rctw.htm

Here is the answer to Q-2:

Glen Breton Rare

Produced in Nova Scotia on Canada's eastern seaboard at the Glenora distillery, this is the only single malt whisky made in Canada. This soft slightly peated, un-smoked, whisky is Canada's contribution to the world. There is no age statement on the bottle but it has probably spent 10 years in un-used barrels. When nosing one gets a hint of peat and no sharpness. This whisky is soft on the palate and the mouth-feel is more rounded than it's cousins across the pond. The finish is short and smooth. There is no edge anywhere in this whisky.

Sorry, I missed ozzz's answer for Q-2 up there, but I'm happy we found the same answer.
I also agree with Sue. It is said that Scotch is an acquired taste, and I sure haven't acquired it.
