Please excuse a novice but when you are posting a link to a web page in a reply, can you rename it once you have copied and pasted it?

Do you mean like http://news.bbc.co.uk then changing it to Click here to see the BBC website?

SOTHC, (can I call you SOT?) hehe

Pasting a website is easy, as Sue just demonstrated.

The procedure is-
1) Go to the site.. (doh)
2) Select the URL- usually a click in the Address bar will do this.
3) Ctrl C
4) Switch back to TF message box
5) Click on the URL code just next to all the funny faces, and hit Ctrl V (paste).
6) Another box will pop up asking for a 'link name'. You can type anything you like in there, but something like 'web site here' will usually suffice.
7) Post (preview, if you like).

Your question, I believe, addresses #6.

To get on an ever decreasing circle, click on this link!

Hope this helps...

I am one of those that was totally mystified by your picture- but it all makes sense now .. We Aussies do not really stand on the badges of 'Imperial Office', because we can beat you at cricket .. lol

Actually it is often desirable to post something other than the url of a site as the link, some urls can be very, very long and will throw the width of the page, the Mods then have to go in and edit the post to bring it back to size.

It doesn't matter how long they are if you are making it into a 'click here' type of link. New York Times have some very long ones, they often have to be edited.
