I beg to differ on that one, porcelain, when people say 'pint' it's pronounced 'PA-EENT' (at least that's the pronunciation I've heard! ). 'Mint', 'hint' and 'flint' are pronounced in a completely different manner.

In Oz we pronounce pint as beer.

Seriously, we pronounce pint as in pine cone. Aah the vaguaries of the English language.

Technically, a hyphenated word in English can be considered one word, so I propose a new longest word for one row of the keyboard:

Typewriter-pewterer: n. One who plates typewriters in pewter

TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.

This is only true for English keyboards though. I have a German keyboard at home (and an English one at uni. That's so confusing ) and on the German one the letter "y" is where the letter "z" is on the English one.
Hey, I just realized I can type "Quizwriter". Is that a real word?

Usually it would be quiz writer, as in quiz player, maker, author etc; however I reckon we might let this one slip through based on your originality Chris.

In response to serendipity, and skullduggery, if you say them carefully...stick to the rhyme and the meter.

Uroborus,
They most certainly are. I trust you have read the rules of this site. It is family oriented and basically if it wouldn't be read on the 6.00 pm news then it shouldn't be posted here.

Thanks
