It is a job to find room for all the boxes that feed into the TV. You can end up with boxes and wires everywhere! When finding room for yet another box, consideration should be given to ventilation of it and the existing equipment. In particular, try to avoid putting anything directly on top of the satellite receiver without allowing some spacing.
A Satellite reciever generates quite a bit of heat, even when switched to stand-by. It needs room for the air to circulate both above and below it. I've always raised satellite receivers up a bit by placing spacers underneath. Around three-quarters of an inch is a reasonable distance I'd say. Keeping electronic componenents cool aids reliability.
I haven't got a DVD player but when setting up the TV corner cabinet I planned for one. Most cabinets only allow for two items under the TV. A way round that is to remove the shelves and use spacers in between the video recorder and satellite receiver.
Doing this makes room for another item to stack.
I've perhaps overdone the distance between the video recorder and cable box but if I need to find room for a DVD player I can make some by taking a bit off the 4 spacers. (The wood from the redundant shelves went to make speaker cabinets at the sides).
It's perhaps not always possible to do this sort of thing but try to consider ventilation when positioning exterior boxes.
