When I log in to the main FT site, I am able to move around Quizzyland and also hyperlink to AskFT, which continues to recognise my log in name.

However, when I hyperlink to the Forums, I have to log in again in order to gain access to my homepage (and then log into the Forums again on subsequent visits if I leave the Forums). I understand the the Forums section is part of a different system to the other two parts of the site.

Clicking on the checkbox on the log in screen which says "remember me on each visit" appears to have no effect. I have got cookies enabled, as the main site recognises me when I log on after shutting down.

Is there any way to avoid having to log in every time I visit the Forums?

Daft question but are you logging out when you leave the forum area? If you are, don't! I have no problem remaining logged on to both parts of the site, in fact I even have different passwords for each section, now that gets confusing if the computer boots me out (and that does happen from time to time) and I have to log back in.

Yes, check out what Sue says. If that isn't the case you could try deleting any cookies that are to do with FT. These can cause login trouble sometimes. It would mean that you'd have to login and ask to be remebered in both places again though. Something to try anyway.

I also have to login each time I come here but I've got used to it now and don't find it too much bother. This is since my wife (Lynda51) signed up here too, meaning that two screen names are coming from the same computer. I now get asked by my browser (it remembers passwords) which name I want to log in with, which is as expected. However, once I have logged in I get taken to the Main Index but when Lynda51 logs in it goes to her homepage. Got to figure that one yet.

That's because in the My Home section you get to choose you own preferences: "When you login do you want to go to your My Home or the main index?"

I should know these things really shouldn't I? In fact, I must have set it for my login preferences at sometime. I'll blame it on my age

Linus - do you have different log-in names/passwords for AFT/Quizzyland and the Forums? (you do have to sign on for both but not at the same time, so there may be a subtle difference).

Thanks for the tips, folks. I was not logging out, but the problem seems to have gone away (not quite sure what I have differently though!!).
