Thought about this for a thread when a new show started tonight called "Deal or No Deal" with the major prize being two million dollars. Anyone else watch it? Is it an idea stolen from somewhere else?

So which quiz or games show do you like or dislike?

I quite like the fast quiz games like "The Weakest Link" and don't like the ones that dawdle on and on and on like "Who Wants to be a Millionaire".

Games shows. Don't mind "Wheel of Fortune" but "The Price is Right", which has just started here again is annoying to the extreme!

Can't stand the Price Is Right; Bob Barker's ego barely fits in the studio, and he treats his contestants like they are morons. Someone needs to kick his #$%.

Jeopardy is classic, love it!! Match Game was very funny, and the one with the whammy....uh, "Big bucks, no whammy", can't think of it now, but it was entertaining. I also loved The Gong Show when it was on, a hilarious show.

I like the nice straightforward general knowledge quizzes without gimmicks.

"The Weakest Link" is OK in conception, but I don't watch it much these days because I can't stand Anne Robinson. I've never seen "Jeopardy" - is it ever shown in the UK?

At present BBC2 has "Mastermind" on Monday evenings, followed immediately by a "professionals'" version of "University Challenge", so that will be my quiz ration for the next few weeks. I love both these programmes - they have good challenging questions and no ludicrously high prizes, just a trophy.

I pretty much dislike, to varrying degrees, all game shows, because of the banal comments of the hosts, the wasted time, etc....but I do like trivia, I like knowledge-based games, and so I do like to watch some and play along. Jeopardy is probably my favorite. I never liked Who Wants to Be A Millionaire much because too few questions are asked, and they are too culturally oriented.

Jeopardy is the most straight forward of the question based game shows, has the least gimmicks, and packs in the most questions on a single show. I don't think I'd watch a complete show of anything else.

I'm not sure which, if any, are still shown but I liked Match Game, Jeopardy, Password, The Gong Show and I"ve Got A Secret. There was an MTV music quiz show at one time- can't recall the name of it- and I enjoyed watching it.

In a (tabloid) newspaper today a poll indicated that the "quiz" most people would like to see return is "Supermarket Sweep" (Excuse me while I look up the definition of Quiz show!)
Personally I can't stand the over hyped game shows that call themselves quizzes. Mastermind, University Challenge, 15-1 and similar programmes are my favourites - like Copago I prefer a brief introduction then quick-fire question/answer for 20 minutes.

Hmmmm.....I would have to say that my favorite game shows are:

  • Jeopardy
  • Press Your Luck (the show with the Whammy!)

Not sure if this counts, but I used to enjoy the Dating Game, Hollywood Squares, and of course Tic Tac Dough.
