Bless your heart Sky. I am addicted to this show. As it stands my favorite comic on the show is Dave Mordahl. I was heartbroken when he was beaten by Dat Phan. I thought Dat's performance that night was less than great, Dave's was much much better. Although I have to confess Dat's performance against Geoff was very good.
I find Dave's style of comedy one that tickles my funny bone and can relate to. His routine that got him on the show, that of how silly we can be (ie: turning on lights, tv's etc despite the power being out) was great. Even watching his performance against Dat I felt that dave was not rehashing stereotypes was being true to self and I learned a bit about him.
But of the remaining 5 comics, my vote is for Rich Vos.

I never saw Dave's initial performance.
Although I like Dave's laid back style, I have to say I did think--based on that competition alone--that Dat Phan did a better job. Yes, it was more stereotypical, but it elicited more laughter, from me included. His second routine was even better. The thing is, he doesn't really let up--he's high energy--not a lot of pauses--and the comedians are dealing with very short time spans here. He packs more laughter into a short time. If they had to go head to head for a full 30 minutes, probably Dave would have won instead.
I do think, though, that all of the comedians have really underated Dat Phan because he is not a funny person on a personal level--he's just a performer. But he's a good performer. Normally, you don't have to see and judge the comic offstage, only on.
To tell the truth, I haven't seen enough routines to know who I like! I missed the first half of the first show, and they didn't show long segments then anway. I look forward to when they will all get on stage!

See now this is where it gets interesting. What is funny to one person may not be to the other. I thought Dat Phan's second set was much funnier. His manicness makes me just think he is trying too hard, whereas I appreciate the laid back wit of Dave.
I missed the first episode with just the 10 and only saw part of the first episode. Each bit that I saw was very small and you only get a few pieces here and there. I hope that we will get to view more stand up next show.

Hi Guy's - I have no idea what you are talking about - for the rest of the world could you please explain what the show is about and what the aim is.

Sure thing fosse. "Last comic standing" is a new reality show. Think survivor meets big brother. 10 stand up comedians live in one house. every three days they do an event that wins one comic "immunity" from being challenged in a stand up competition. The rest of the house votes on who they think they are funnier than. The comic who receives the most votes picks a dueling mate. They then have to show their stuff in a stand up routine. The audience at the club determines who is the funniest. The loser goes, the winner stays.
At present time there are 5 comedians left.

Oh, I don't predict a UK version.
From one who usually despises reality shows, I have to say I found this one quite good--because it is also a real competition, with an actual talent, and since they are all comedians, it is not excruitiaitngly boring to watch them in every day conversation either. Granted, I would probably have preferred a show with more actual time on stage given to each competitor (which would also be a more talent-based, even playing field). That is, something more like the last show. Speaking of which--who did you vote for sebastiancat?

I think we'll get it. After all the junk reality TV and quizzes we have unloaded on you guys in the last five years we probably deserve it.
I am so sorry about "The Weakest Link", "Pop Idol" and "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". On behalf of the whole UK I would like to say sorry to the whole USA. Please don't be vendictive and keep "Last Comic Standing" to yourselves. Pretty please?

I concur. The fact that it was an actual competition made it more worthwhile. It wasn't "who can eat the most disgusting thing I found under this rock".
I loved Cory's set on the show. So I put in one vote for her and two votes for Rich Vos. Finding out he has been doing this for nearly 20 years tugs at my heartstrings and makes me want him to win this thing.

UK could always endure an edition of "Paradise Hotel" or "Race to the Altar". Thank god I enjoy reading. TV is becoming such a waste.

So, sebastiancat, any comments on the finale and America's final choice? I can't say I was really surprised (maybe a little, but I considered it a strong possibility), but there were three other comics I would have chosen ahead of him.

I actually was incredibly surprised and still wonder who are these people that think he is that funny? My sense of humor must be warped.
I had thought that Cory was on top of her game and was funnier than he. Ralphie, although an angry comic, was still funnier than Dat. And Rich is just funny walking. I had thought that after Tess, Dat would have been voted out. So much for what I know.
How about you? How did you think it would have played out?

My own choices were to boot Tess first, then Dat. I would have had a hard time choosing between the other three.
But I did consider the possibility that Dat might actually win, or at least come very close. (I thought Ralphie would probably win.) The reasons I thought Dat might win is that he is sort of the underdog--hounded by the other comics, who continually underate him, and that might appeal to many voters. Also, he is not cocky and has this concern for integrity--which again might appeal to the voters. And he simply got more performance time. And he IS funny, I just don't think that--overall--he's as good as those other three. But look at the kind of comics who do have thier own shows. Most of them aren't the Ralphie-Cory-Rich type--that somewhat tough edge.
I think Dat's problem is that he is a one trick pony. Granted, he was forced to perform more than the others, so I don't know how well they would hold up in show after show. But Dat has one joke--his ethnicity. And yeah, it was funny the first two times, but how long can that last? And in the last two performances he gave, he repeated two bits. When you've only performed a total of something like 15 minutes and you have to repeat two bits..that's not good. That's not good at all.
I found Cory very funny. I don't know that she's sitcom mateiral, but she's a very good stand-up comic. I liked the other two routines too.

In this I completely agree. I hoped that Rich would win, but had a feeling it might be Ralphie. I certainly would watch a comedy special with Ralphie, Rich or Cory but would seriously have to consider that issue with Dat.
The 3 comics, Rich, Ralphie, and Cory all had variety and subject to their material. Rich Vos made a comment early in the show's start that if a viewer walks away having learned a bit about the comic than he did well. I learned a variety of things about Ralphie, Rich and Cory. The only thing that I learned from Dat was his ethnicity and nothing else.
Curious to see if there will be a round 2 of this.

I agree that it should have gone Tess first, then Dat off, then kinda a crapshoot. I thought Cory's performance in the finals was funniest, then Rich, then Ralphie. Ralphie's gig disappointed me, he just kept saying the same stuff. I hoped he would win, or Rich. If he would have given the performance he gave tuesday night at the finals, I think he would've won. I agree that Dat's underdog status helped him. I wanted him to beat Dave even though Dave was funnier and a better comic, just because they all ganged up on him.

I really saw very little of this show: I saw only the part of one episode where they played hide and seek in the house and left Dat hiding to see how long he would stay there. Not very mature or complimentary of the other housemates.
I only saw a short bit by the black girl in the finals (I don't know her name) and two performances by Ralphie and one by Dat along with a few short clips of his routine. I thought the black girl was the funniest. Ralphie did nothing for me. I thought he acted too angry and he seemed one dimensional with only fat jokes. Dat didn't seem to be the oddball on stage that they said he was in private but I don't know cause I didn't watch the show. He wasn't too bad but if he was the funniest of all of them then none have much to look forward to.

Tess. I thought she was the least funny of the five finalists.
No one here seems to think Dat was the best, but he won.

My beef with Dat winning was that he was not the funniest. he had moments of hilarity, but he was inconsistent. I think more people voted for him because they felt bad, or wanted the underdog to win. I thought the premise of the competition was who is the funniest, not who you felt the sorriest for.
