During the pandemonium caused by his shootout in City Hall earlier today, Othniel Boaz Askew fatally shot City Councilman James Davis.

After shooting Davis, Askew was shot to death by a plain clothed officer.

Askew seems to have gotten through the building with a weapon by going around the metal detectors.

As of now, the motive for the assault seems to be a dispute between Askew and Davis.

Readin the paper today it appeared that the two men were talking in the balcony and that the shooter walked in with Davis - thus avoiding the metal detector.
