With so many people who frequent this forum having multiple quizzes on line I thought I'd ask what was the first quiz you wrote? Was it bad? Get sent back to you a few times?

Mine was a very boring one about Australian Prime Ministers but I learnt a lot of lessons from it about creating a quiz - some of those lessons may even have sunk in.

Mine was one called Aussie Alphabeticals. 25 questions was certainly a big ask for a first quiz but I am happy with the responses I have received.

I enjoyed Jim's "Aussie Alphabeticals" quiz.

My own first effort was on pubs in literature. I thought I'd try to combine a couple of my main interests.

Mine was called 'Equations in One Variable' (formerly Simple equations in one variable, I had the name changed after I found it was rated 'Easy') and is in the Algebra category.

Many thanks to FT editor CellarDoor for helping me get it online!

My first quiz was on astrology and it was called Astrology 101. It was the only quiz placed on line in January. Since then, I have put 68 more on line. It has been a lot of fun

My first quiz is five questions in length, and is titled "Junior's Rottweiler Quiz" (the title is in reference to my dog).

At first I did not have any interesting information for every single question (back then it was not required). Within the past five to eight months, I have added interesting information for all of the questions....and you know, the quiz seems to be faring much better with interesting information.

My first quiz was "The Thirteenth Warrior" which went on June 20, 2001. I am a huge fan of the movie, and I also have the book upon which the film is based "Eaters of the Dead". I had taken several quizzes, and I thought, well, why not give it a go--and it's actually one of my longest quizzes at 25 questions. There was an editor in movies at that time, I think their name was MacWhiz, and he/she sent me such a very, very nice detailed note and were so encouraging and made getting my quiz online such a positive experience, that I decided to make others.

When I first found FT it wasn't accepting quizzes and I was real eager to write them so I submitted about 6 at once soon as I could. Most of them got rejected but not because of anything to do with the quizzes themselves.

LindaC007,

While I know there other FT members, who are supportive of the editing staff, in my opinion, I think you are one of the editing staff's biggest cheerleaders....and I just want to say thank you for all of your kind words, and for creating terrific quizzes (which of course makes our job that much easier).

When I edit quizzes in Celebrities, and I see that the quizmaker is having a problem with understanding something about the actual creation of a quiz, I refer them to review your quizzes, as they are very well done...and it usually works out great for the quizmaker!

So, Kudos to you Linda for a job well done! Keep up the great work!

It was about Gibraltar. My boss asked me to do some research about Gibraltar as he was having to visit on an official capacity so needed to know all sorts of background information - I put the information to use here. Miraculously it was not sent back to me and I sent the editor concerned a note of gratitude for the speedy placement online.

My first quiz was "Medicine and Mythology". It's still my favourite of all my quizzes, even though some of my other quizzes have been ranked more highly.

Hmm, that's a good question. I had to go back and do some investigative research!

I believe my first quiz online is this one on Chinese history, dated as coming aboard the Quizzyland boat on Febrary 19, 2000. I believe the 'Quiz I' part was added later, but the rest is the original work, sans additional info (I figured, at the time, that the info from the questions would be overwhelming enough!)

Chinese History Quiz I

This quiz was also placed online the same day (2/19/00), not far behind the first.

Asian Geography

Ditto this one:

A Quiz for all NBA fans

I'm wondering about the accuracy of the 2/19/00 date. Did Q-land open before this? I do recall that these quizzes came online essentially the same day that I created them, and that Terry was the editor. They are all among the first 30 quizzes to come online at Q-land.

the beta version started in the last week of Jan 00, and QL was born on 19-Feb-00
see Quizzyland is 3 years old today!

I tried to look at my list for the earliest dates, but I'm not sure if we modified something if it didn't change the date...I'm coming up with the French culinary terms and the word games as my first quizzes, and CrisW, Minch, Jazz and a few others encouraged me in my first efforts. The celebrhymes did very well then..people really enjoyed them.
It's looking like the time I found the site, Quizzyland as I didn't have any idea of the forums' existence for a few months there, in January or February 2001, I really must have been inspired!
Jazz was the one who helped me with my art quiz....made it harder if I recall.

I think mine was a quiz on "Phantom of the Opera". Someone on a board I frequented had made a quiz and told us all about it... saw the site and decided to make my own.

I was surprised to find that my first quiz was Dog Breeds in the Sporting Group which has an ID of 184. It also has the Feb. 19 '00 creation date- I think the system is setting that as the earliest possible date. I have quite a few quizzes in the first 500 of Quizzyland. I never had a quiz rejected- but back then, not much was rejected!

Mine was a quiz on Ed McBain's 87th precinct mystery series. I made the common mistake of having it too hard. I had too many questions of the "In which book did such and such happen ?" variety. I'm now of the opinion that, if I myself, as a person with an interest in the subject, don't know the answer more or less off the top of my head, how can I expect anyone else to? Therefore, I put a lot less research into the questions, and a lot more into the interesting info.

Mine was Elsa The Lioness. It was your basic straight line quiz, asking "when was she born, when did she die, etc."

Crisw sent me a correction note advising me of any errors I had in the quiz, and she gave me suggestions on how to make more interesting.

I followed her advice, and the quiz was placed online, followed by part two.

My first effort was a quiz on 'Australian Stamp Collecting', edited, rejected and released by gtho4. It went online in November 2001, and at one stage it was ranked at number 2, which surprised me greatly!

My first quiz was called "Spanish Treasure Galleons". It was edited by someone very nice from England. Sadly it has never ranked, even though, I have hopes that the century being young there is a ray of hope that its time may come to pass.

It can be found at
http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?id=57321

I have found both Lisa, Jazz, and all the other editors to be kind and helpful.

My first quiz was "The Amazing Colossal Science Quiz -- Starring You!" It was accepted without corrections (beginner's luck.) I created this quiz for several reasons. I saw a message that more science quizzes were wanted (instead of, for example, more entertainment quizzes.) I wanted to pay tribute to my love of old sci-fi films, so I made use of the title of "The Amazing Colossal Man." I also thought it would be fun to have a "story" in the quiz itself.

My first quiz has been online for more than three years but only has 111 plays. However, I knew going in that this subject would appeal to a very limited audience ("Atlantic City Casino History"). I forget who my editor was for this (it was originally submitted in "Specialized History"). My first forums post was on how to increase the number of questions on this quiz from 15 to 20. Two of my interests are history and casinos, so researching this and keeping it updated has been a labor of love. I wound up with some "Additional Info" for all 20 questions, but things there change so quickly it's been a real challenge to keep it updated.

I couldn't remember mine and had to go back and look at the dates on my list. Apparently, it's "Poetic Forms." Not my best, but not my worst.

Of course, I could have sworn my first one was on John Milton, but I don't see that quiz anywhere anymore! It seems to have disappeared altogether. Weird. Am I imagining its invention?

Would you believe my first quiz was a five question one called my first wordwise. Now 62 Punzzles later I have enough to do 200 more, maybe this is why they won't accept any more wordwise puzzles.
