An ancient Chinese game called spillikins was played with 30 slender ivory sticks, intricately carved with unique symbols and figures. Each stick had a different point value, and players used a thin, hooked stick to carefully move sticks from a pile. Sound familiar? Trade ivory for plastic, skip the fancy carving and the hooked stick, and you've got pick-up-sticks.

How about "Chinese Checkers", which really came, not from China, but from the Scandinavian game of Halma? tjoeb};>
