  • Aramadillo babies are identical quads. (clones that is)

  • Armadillos are the only animal besides humans that can get leprosy.

  • Armadillos can be house broken.

  • Armadillos have 4 babies at a time & they are always the same sex.

  • If disconnected, the sex organs (or gonads) of an armadillo are still active

  • 45 different kinds of antelope can be found in Africa.

  • Koalas never drink water. They get fluids from the eucalyptus leaves they eat.

  • Montana has a bear erson ratio of 4:1, dear erson ratio 9:1 yet no posted speed limit.

  • Polar bears are left handed.

  • The opening to the cave in which a bear hibernates is always on the north slope. Unless the bear lives in the southern hemishpere.

  • Beavers can hold their breath for 45 minutes.

Emergency update!! Montana, as of last year, does now have speed limits posted on Interstate highways. Not that they need them, but Montanans faced loss of federal highway dollars and caved in.

Who would "disconnect" the sex organs of an armadillo to see what they would "do?" Brrrr.

The pelican is a noisy bird when it's a baby. But, by the time it's an adult, the bird will lose its voice. What's more: its pouch is not used to store fish, as is commonly believed, but to scoop fish out of the water, much like a net. The fish are then dropped into its stomach where digestion can begin.

Ever wonder why you never see a baby pigeon? Adults often don't get the proper diet needed to form strong eggshells, which is why they do better in captivity. Baby's stay in the nest for almost a year and grow so rapidly that they are nearly full grown when they fly the coop.

Good question fjohn. What a job that would be. Gross!

Hi anniedt, I use to raise pigeons. Rollers, tumblers, fan tails, russian trumpeters, pure whilte budapests. Use to love watching then fly around above then all the sudden they would perform 3 or four tumbles then recover. Most of my pigeons would come back within a couple of hours. I have a story about one of my favorite ones , he was a "Top Gun"

I have a couple of fan tails that visit every year. I love to listen to their coo's. They are a bit shy, but fun to watch.

Australia did not have any members of the cat family, any hoofed animals, or any monkeys or apes until those animals were imported. Just a little lesson for you: Always check after your guests leave. You never know what they may leave behind. LOL

What animal was considered a delicacy in ancient Rome?

The ancient Romans raised small, squirrel-like edible dormice (Glis glis) as meat animals. They were prized as a delicacy by the wealthiest epicures in Roman society, who ate them stuffed alongside snails, oysters, baked songbirds, or quail's eggs. Dormice are still eaten in southern and eastern Europe.

Dormice are shy, nocturnal animals that hibernate during cold weather. They eat mostly seeds, nuts, fruits, and grains, supplemented with an occasional insect, worm, or bird egg. They usually nest in groups among dense vegetation or rocks.

The edible dormouse is the largest of 26 species of dormice in the family Gliridae. It is found throughout southern Europe, the Middle East and northern Africe. It has also been introduced into England.

A pound of armadillo meat contains 780 calories.

Most armadillos seen dead on the road did not get hit by the wheels. When an armadillo is frightened it jumps straight into the air.

Armadillos get an average of 18.5 hours of sleep per day.

Armadillos can walk underwater.

Facts on Cows

Cows poop on average 16 times a day.

In 1984, a Canadian farmer began renting ad space on his cows.

In the Middle Ages, the highest court in France ordered the execution of a cow for injuring a human.

Most cows give more milk when they listen to music.

Music helps cows produce more milk.

The flatulation from domesticated cows produce about 30% methane on this planet.

The oldest cow ever recorded was a Dremon named Big Bertha that died 3 months shy of her 49th birthday.

The smallest breed of domestic cattle is the Ovambo of Namibia. Mature bulls and cows weigh 496 lb and 353 lb respectively on average.

* A cow gives nearly 200,000 glasses of milk in her lifetime.

* Cows actually baby-sit for each other. Small calves are settled into the grassy pasture & while 1 or 2 cows stay nearby to baby-sit, the rest of the moms go off to graze. Then they rotate back to take their turn baby-sitting while the 1st 'sitters' have a turn at the grazing.

* Cows eat their afterbirth.

* Cows navigate by looking at the ground. If the field the cows are in is flooded, they are not able to find their way home!

* Cows swallow metal objects! It happens too often & believe it or not, we ranchers refer to the sickness that follows as 'hardware disease'.

* Every day the average person sees at least one thing relating to a cow (be it a poster, a cow type print, a picture or a real cow).

* If a cow has twins, a bull & a heifer, the heifer will never be able to reproduce.

* It seems that cows are grazing animals. They pretty much like to graze on grass. Grass is found on the ground in the cows' pastures. Other things are also found on the ground in the cows' pastures; things like nuts, bolts, nails & bits of barbed wire. These things, unlike grass, do not sit well in a cows digestive system. Some cows have even died (Oh NO!) from eating these metal things & then trying to pass them through their digestive system. So, for years now, the farmers have been feeding new born cows (calves, I think they're called) magnets. These magnets stay in the cows' stomachs their whole life. Now the cows don't have to pass the metal things through their digestive systems. The cow magnets hold onto the metal.

* Most cows give more milk when they listen to music.

* The City of New Delhi employs 100 professional cow catchers to control the 40,000 cows that roam the streets.

* There are more cows in Nebraska then people!

* To make 1 pound of cheese, a dairy cow must 1st eat 3 pounds of food.
