The Beatles are acknowledged as one of the top groups of the 1960's and a lot of their song are now accepted as standards. Votes please for their worst song/lyrics. Please feel free to include Lennon/McCartney lyrics not released by the Beatles but recorded by other people. Having been subjected to it over and over again 'cos it was a favourite of my kids (and DESPITE liking the tune and lyric the first time I heard it) Yellow Submarine Your reason why you think it the worst might be more interesting than the song so please say why you think it the worst! ps (I was a Stones Fan)

This is only because I have a bad association with it, I guess but I would vote for "Obla Di Obla Da". It was on my tape deck when my car was in a major accident (I actually went off a cliff) and that is what I always think of when I hear that song. However, the next line is "Life goes on" and it does Mike

Fosse, I was all set to post "they don't have one" and then you mentioned "Yellow Submarine". Point taken!

They don't have one!
Though I will admit I've not overly fond of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". It might have been radio's over-playing of Elton John's bland cover version that spoiled the original for me, more that likely that's why. I might have picked "Yellow Submarine" at one time, but after hearing Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band's rendition of it in concert, I really began enjoying that song a lot more.

As most people know, I'm a Beatlemaniac, but to be honest, I could never really get into George's Indian songs, 'Love You To' and 'Within You, Without You'. I used to think that 'With a Little Help From My Friends' was a poor segue from 'Sgt. Peppers', but it grew on me. Lastly, I'm surprised no-one's mentioned 'Revolution #9'. I think it's a very interesting montage, but I can understand why people would hate it.

Perhaps I'm becoming bland and boring with age, but I can't think of any I'd call their worst...perhaps what Dalgleish said however...not too fond of cacaphony.
On the contrary, I still find that most any Beatle song I hear makes me instantly feel as though I was with family. I'm not a worshipper and don't enjoy dissecting every single thing they wrote, however, their voices for me are family like. They always produce the same reaction as hearing one of my family speak.

I'm a Beatles fan as well but I never liked "Hey Jude". It seemed to go on endlessly. "Revolution #9" was a pretty rough ride, too. The Beatles were at their best when they were short and sweet in their music.

I absolutely loathe "Michelle". It's annoying lyrics "Michelle, Ma Belle, these are words that go togther well" just make me grind my teeth together. Combined with a dreary tune, this just has to be the Beatles worst moment. It was also a UK number one for The Overlanders, and, as punishment for not even attempting to improve this song, they became one hit wonders. Serves them right!

Just counting the popular songs I've heard too often: "Good Day Sunshine", "Obla de diddly dickitydoo" or whatever that slice of annoying pie was called, and yeah, "Michelle" was lame, too.

God a difficult question. I am really a die hard fan and it is like asking a mother which of her children she likes least. I suppose the ones that I find don't stir me in the way that the others do are the ones that are not really songs, like the afforementioned Revolution 9. If I discount this type of thing I have to say that I never really warmed to You Know My Name, Look Up The Number. Again this is not one of their more "traditional" numbers. If pushed I will say Savoy Truffle.

I’ll be bagged senseless about this, but the only Beatles song that bores me to tears is Hey Jude. I love it for about 2 minutes and the next 5 minutes sends me to sleep.

Even for a Beatles fan (and I am one, and am corrupting my children so they'll be ones too!), there are several to choose from.
"Why don't we do it in the road?" (May not be the right title? Off the "White Album") "I'm Down" from the Shea stadium concert -- enough already! I'd agree with those who say "Hey Jude" goes on too long, and that there's something a little strange about "Revolution 9" (Number nine, number nine, number nine)
But I like "Michelle" and sang "Goodnight" to the kiddies to put them to bed.

I don't think there is a bad song but agree there's some pretty wierd words in I am the walrus ...(Goo goo g' joob!). Yellow matter custard dripping from a dead dog's eye! (corrr!). So, if I had to choose a song, it would be that one for the words. I still liked the music though.

The Long and Winding Road. To me, it marked the end of the Beatles and it was so sad!!
Now there, thats one of my favorite songs. And, I must say that the 'Let It Be..Naked' version is awesome. Least favorite for me, I would have to say Michelle as well. 'Sont les mots qui vont tres bein ensemble..tres bein ensemble' *Yawn*

I'd say anything that Phil Spector got his hands on during post editing. He ruined some of The Beatles work by adding strings, chorus, etc. An example is "The Long and Winding Road".
