Learning the ropes...

Several days ago, I heard bits and pieces of a news program that was reporting certain findings on sheep. It stated that when sheep choose mates, the sheep seem to distinguish between "ugly" sheep and "attractive" sheep, thus, choosing the "attractive" sheep over the "unattractive" ones. Any information on this finding would be appreciated.

Maybe some Aussie members can tell you how to tell the attractive sheep from the ugly ones.

I would suggest that some Kiwis FT members enlighten you on this subject.

As an expat New Zealander the only thing I recall is that Virgin Wool comes from ugly sheep, so perhaps there are good looking and ugly sheep.

LOL Davjack! What an explanation of virgin wool!!

Hm, I raise sheep, what can I tell you?

The only thing I have heard that's anything close to this is about symmetry. It seems that many animals, us included, look for symmetry in mates. In certain situations it reflects health.

But! I do not think that sheep are at all choosy! They "run around" so to speak.
