I thought we were playing on a India/England/ Australia format?
Randomly picking up teams might be controversial, though I personally have no problems with the teams.

I could volunteer for Captaincy but could someone explain what it means apart from chewing gum?

Manvinder, seeing as how you volunteered, you have my vote. I think the captain also has to toss a coin (oh, the pressures of captaincy!)

I am OK with any teams, too.

I don't see Gtho4's name on the list, anywhere. Can he be cajoled into this one? Who's the best at sweet talking? Copago? Ozzz? ...anyone!!!

Manvinder, I liked the India/Australia/England match but we don't have so many participators. If we had 6 Indians, 6 Aussies and 6 Englishmen, we might have had a chance. That's why I had to make the teams like that. You can also see that I tried to make sure that people were in their chosen team. Ozzz wanted to be in Copago's opposite team, so I put him here. Harish wanted to be in Ozzz's team, so I put him there.

Also Dalgeish, Fosse4 wanted to be in one team together so I Put them there. Looks like the match will be between the Rest Of the World versus India.

Anyway, I think Manvinder should be captain. So have we all agreed on this ?

And the beginnings of a really bad joke.

I'm more than happy with any teams ... just as long as i get to bowl bouncers at Ozzz.

Oh, dear! Bouncers? That means more work for long stop!

Fortunately, since I'm in his team, I should be at the pavillion while Copago & Co. try desperately to stump (pun intended) him.

I am just wondering what a bouncer from Copago would look like- maybe navel high? I am a tall guy, and she isn't

(ozzz chooses to stand next to square leg umpire for the next delivery)

EDITED to add.. where are all the Yanks and Canucks? Have they admitted defeat already?

Ozz behave yourself - but the mind boggles at Copago's bouncers (John - behave yourself!)
And I'm insulted that a long stop should be employed to my wicket keeping!

Happy to go with the teams as randomly chosen - lets go!

If no-one else wants it, I'll nominate for captain of the rest of the rest of the world team.

OK, Dalgeish is their captain. We're almost ready to go. If we have just one more member, we can start. Anyone want to send some PM's ?

YES ! WE can finally start the challenge. So, Dalgeish and Manvinder, both of you had better toss the coin and see who gets to post the first question.

Dagleish your team can go first. Ask a q...... maybe Copago can open the bowling as Ozz is dying to face the bouncers

I'm watching this thread with interest --- maybe I'll learn something about the game in time for the NEXT cricket tipping comp!

Sorry to hold things up.
I've just had the team out doing a little light training. We went out to the middle and did a lap of a stump...

Ok, first question.

Between which two sides was the first tied One Day International played?

Between West Indies (222-5) and Australia (222-9), Melbourne 83/84?

(Got this off a list of tied ODI games, not sure if it's the first.)

Here are a few suggestions for this challenge which I think might make it interesting.

1) The challenge can be played on a monthly basis with different teams picked randomly.
2) Each team should post the answer within 24 hrs of the posting of the question otherwise a point will be given to the opponents.
3) We could also ask questions in packs of 6 and increase time to 48 hrs. The questioner in that case may be appointed by the captain.
4) Questions should be posted within a time limit ( say 12 hrs) of posting the answer and the same person who answers should post the question.
5) The scoreboard should be put on top of the thread and be constantly edited by the organiser (Angi).
6)Individual scores would also be good. The two best scorers could become captains for the next month.
7) If its a success we can do similar things for categories other than cricket like -pizza toppings .
8) A correct answer should be acknowledged within 24 hrs otherwise -1 for the team.
9) Newbies are welcome but in pairs. (look who's talking )

Angi its upto you to decide as these are only suggestions. I hope the moderator does not have any objections.

Manivinder, I loved your suggestion, but I think the 24 hour formats might make it difficult. After all there are people from all over the world and that might make it difficult. I liked your other suggestion especially the scoreboard, I'm off to do it now.

OK, on with the game, Dalgeish, is Harish's answer correct ?

24 hrs is One Whole Day did you forget?

(pats Harish on the back for giving us an explosive start)
If He's correct we have a Duckworth-Lewis Rules question coming up
