That's seriously funny!!

Harish answered it,so let him ask the question.

Angi could you state the rules for this challenge properly in the first post. Also mention the teams up there.

Hmm...very sporting of you to allow Harish to set the next question as he answered the previous one. The problem arises that he may very well be the first to find the answer to several more questions.

Should participants be disqualified from answering more than one question on the grounds that they cannot set more than one? I personally don't think so, but how do the rest of you feel. I would prefer each to take a turn in setting (the batting order already determined in the teams above) and the whole team working on the fielding.

Manvinder, you must be totally out of your wits to ask me of all people to ask cricket trivia, but anyway, here's a really stupid question of which the answer I'm sure nobody cares at all:

On January 14, 15 and 16, 1857, a cricket match was held between New South Wales and Victoria. In New South Wales' first innings, which bowler got the most wickets? (Surname only, I don't know his first name... )

Correct, izzi! (By the way, the page you linked to was my reference page as well.)

Okay, now how many of us actually care about this 'Wills' fellow's career?

Cheers Harish! No doubt Wills' descendants are really proud of him, but you are right, his cricketing prowess won't be cropping up in conversation very often.

I'll take a bit of a breather now and let the rest of my team do a bit of the running.

Well done, Izzi. OK< i've added a few rules to make it more exciting.

1. The person who can answer the question can ask the question for his team. So Izz can ask the question, and if Ozzz can answer correctly, he will ask the next quesyion

2. The person who asks the question, can decide the number of runs on the question. For exaple, if Izzi think that the question she is going to ask is very difficult, she can say it is for 6 runs. If the opposing team can answer the question, they will WIN 6 runs. Cool huh. Runs can be of 1 ,2,3,4 and 6 runs.

Will it be really difficult to follow these rules ?

Ok Ozzz...here we go, a chance to knock us for six!

Name the first Australian team to play in England.

All 13 players will get you 6 runs
9 players for 5 runs
7 players for 4 runs
5 players for 3 runs
4 players for 2 runs
2 players for 1 run

A few more...

King Cole (real name Bripumyarrimin)
Bullocky
Red Cap
Twopenny..

Not sure how many of these duplicate Angi's posts, but will do some more research when I get home...

Great effort so far, but the clock's ticking and time's running out. Are the rest of your team napping?

According to my information Lawrence and Caffyn (both Englishmen) organized the tour, and although Lawrence played, I can't find any confirmation that Caffyn did.

Tom Wills was the team coach, but didn't actually play as far as I know. He, incidentally, is the very same Thomas Wentworth Wills best remembered as the father of Aussie Rules Footy.

I must apologise for not wording my question carefully enough, it was actually the indigenous Australian players I wanted, but in the spirit of fair play I'll happily count Lawrence as one of the team.

Angi, you were correct with the following players:
Dick-a-Dick
John Mullagh
John Cuzens
King Cole
Sundown
Jim Crow

Ozzz added:
Bullocky
Redcap
Twopenny
So I make that 10 correct players so far, including Lawrence.

I managed to find a site on the web which gives a complete list of all 20 team members, not all of whom played in that first match.

Clue: It is the only site I found which actually includes the real names of these valiant sportsmen.

Get googling!!

I've searched Google till I'm blue in the face. I couldn't ever find a site like this. I'm not searching again. Someone had better do it. By the way, izzi, how much time have we left ?

Looks like they're beginning to buckle under the pressure, Dino's.

Don't sweat you Mashers, I shan't be logging back in for several hours.
