manvinder ... nice question.

i reckon both uncles played for 5 teams but that might just be the number of fingers i've got.

Both uncles were also cricketers of the year for a country (D?) that they never played "domestic" cricket in other than on tour.

Your on the right track Oleg. I couldn't have asked D as 6 points is the limit.

manvinder - i've got the answers ... but don't want to post as that would slightly spoil it for everyone else.

Oleg, I'l try to add you in one team. The problem that arises is that we need another member so that each team gets equal players. Don't worry, I'll search for a few. Maybe Gtho4 would care to join ?

If I join, can oleg post his answer?

Thank you, GT for joining. You're in the in our team, that is the Manvinder Mashers. Manvinder is the captain. Therefore Oleg is in Dalgeish's team. So, oleg, you can post your answers because now you're a part of the team.

Can we move this to the Sports Stadium, as this challenge fits into the topics for that forum?

Okay the answers are:

Mahendra Nagamootoo
West Indies
United States of America
Guyana

... Kalli & Kanhai both won the Indian cricketer of the Year Award.

I know, Manvinder, it's a bit controversial, that method. But it was the best I could come up with.

I'm sorry but your points system isn't making sense.
Why not just add the number of runs scored. Divide the runs if more than one people answer the question.
The total points in team should add up to the actual score.

In case you want to stick with current system you will nedd to do some recalculation I think.

That's not a bad table, Manvinder, but can you tell me the scoring. If a player gets a whole q right, how many points he scores etc. ?

okay then 3Q's 2 runs each.

Q1 W.Farrimond made 174 for Minor Co's v Ox U in 1934. One single scoring shot is (probably) unique in fcc - and exceptionally rare in all cricket. Why?

Q2 The result of the minor co's championship in 1933 was "not decided". Why?

Q3 In what way is F.W.(Fred) Stocks unique in first class cricket history?

I think these might all be a bit hard to know but some intelligent guesswork should get them ...... i think?

... as an incidental variation on the theme if we are "six a side" we could take in turns to ask six questions and each opposition "player" could in turn only answer one question. this would stop a handful of players monopolising the answering. any comments ?

Um...assuming your answer is correct Fosse, that's two for the Mashers.

Fosse4 - you're on the right track ... Fred Stocks did score a 100 on debut - and that's half of what makes him unique.

He played lots of other games and scored (i think) over 10000 runs in total.

I suppose that's a single - just beating the throw in from mid off!

Hint for the bit that makes him unique ... he was a bit of an all rounder.

Pheew! At least that's only one run given away to the opposition then...and it's good to give them a sporting chance!

Appeal to the umpires - Can we have a score card and take lunch on the first day after this set of questions (It's starting to take forever to load up!) - the umpire can then re-start play after lunch with a new ball.

Yes, it's taking forever to load, let's continue this in another post. I'll try to post a fair scorecard.
