I woke up this morning to find out the world has lost singer Johnny Cash and comedian John Ritter. For some reason the death of John Ritter struck me, whether it was because I just saw him on TV this week, his relative youth or because it was 6am and I'm still not awake.

Read the details:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/TV/09/12/ritter.obit/index.html (John Ritter)

http://www.cnn.com/2003/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/12/cash.obit/index.html (Johnny Cash)

Thanks for that, Sebasiancat - first I'd heard of either of their deaths. Not that familiar with John Ritter but I was subjected to Johnny Cash songs from an early age.

Sad news.

WOW! John Ritter was still setting in... I did not know about Johnny Cash. They say "celebrities go in threes". I know it's an urban legend but are there another sick Johns?

A close friend of mine knew the Cashes, and when June Carter Cash died a few months back, my friend predicted that Johnny wouldn't last long without her. They were a very devoted couple who leaned heavily on one another for strength. As for John Ritter---this one really surprised me! Waaay too young to go.

There were three deaths Charles Bronson along with Johnny Cash and John Ritter (who hasn't been mentioned on UK tv).
I remember Ritter as a reliable lead in a variety of sitcoms with a fairly patchy film career (mainly comedy, but some tv movie dramas). Regards, Tin

I heard about Johnny Cash on the weekend and thought someone was just fooling around...when I found out they were telling the truth it kind of floored me...man...Johnny Cash...I was brought up on that stuff, you know (which could explain a bit about me, if you listen to some of those songs ).

Good grief...

Sadly Slim Dusty, Australia's own country music icon passed
away yesterday at age 76, finally succumbing to cancer.
Slim was born David Gordon Kirkpatrick in the New South Wales country town of
Kempsey on June 13, 1927. He wrote his first song, "The Way the Cowboy Dies" when he was 10, and started calling himself Slim Dusty in 1938. Slim started the tradition of taking country music to rural areas in 1954 with the Slim Dusty show. In 1957 he recorded his first top selling song
Pub With No Beer". Later that song was to be the first sung by an Australian to be beamed from space. Slim's other gold
record "Duncan" appeared in 1980. All up, he recorded 105
albums and was working on his 106th at the time of his death. The Brisbane Courier Mail was my source for this information.
