Controversial artist Stelarc made confronting artpieces. What processes did he use to make them?

Uhhhh.... the economic, the social, and the political?

The Gadsden Purchase?

The Edict of Nantes?

Pi times the radius squared?

Am I getting close?

This is some of the wierdest "art" that this traditionalist has ever seen: http://www.stelarc.va.com.au/
As to the "suspension" piece are you refering to the fish hooks and wires suspending his body? Eeewww!

Without trying to be controversial in any way shape or form, how can these performances be described as ART. Freak shows went out of fashion decades ago. Was the showing of Joseph Merrick (The Elephant Man (born in Leicester by the way!)) an artistic performance or just the exploitation of a very intelligent man who happened to be different to everyone else?
