Another sad day as author George Plimpton passed away yesterday as well as Robert Palmer. He was a great author and will be missed

Plimpton was a character! Good writer, had fun with his life, etc. Best of all was that he never seemed to take his privelege or talent all that seriously. I remember seeing him in "Reds" and thought he was even a good actor (even though he was probably playing George Plimpton). But doing that well was quite enough.

Did you know Plimpton had a one-line role in Howard Hawks' last movie "Rio Lobo"? He was one of a pack of villians set to fetch Jennifer O'Neill to jail on a trumped-up charge. Plimpton appears behind John Wayne and when his sheriff friend asks the chief villian for a warrant for O'Neill, Plimpton points a rifle at the back of Wayne's head and speaks up: "I got a warrant right here, sheriff!" (Of course, the villians lose!)
