Did anyone get some new PC games or games in general over the holidays? My husband got "Gladius" for Xbox which from what I have seen is great. Can't wait to get my hands onit.
I was able to get "Hobbit"; "Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna"; "Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark" and "Uru". I've only managed to play "Dungeon Siege" which I personally loved.

My favorite PC games are Roller Coaster Tycoon and Zoo Tycon. In the first one you must build an amusement park adn keep the guests happy. In the second one you must build a zoo adn keep the guests and animals happy. They're both awesome, when you start it you just can't stop, it's very good. Besides it's so realistic, you get to know what it's like to make animals happy and people happy by owning a zoo and an amusement park. Plus you get to deal with money, sometimes you even go to bankrupt, but you can always borrow money, as in real life. Try them, you'll like them. Chrissy

Indiana Jones is an oldie but it is pretty cool. Halo:Combat Evolved is awesome for the PC, especially the online feature. Diablo II and the Baldur's Gate duo are mentionable as well.

What about Kings Quest?! I love that game we have them all and have completed them all many times, my favourite one is Kings Quest 3. I also like Championship Manager where you take control of a football team and have to decide everything a manager would in real life

What happened to dear old Tetris? That has got to be the most addictive game. I've played many games over the years, and this seemingly simple game with it's primitive graphics (the original version, I mean) is still an all-time favourite! When it got to the stage where all the hi-scores were in my name at the office, and nobody could either match or beat me, I gave it up for a while, but I still regularly get hooked on it again.
I remember having great fun playing the Prince of Persia and Leisure Suit Larry games, Monkey Island and all that era too, but the ones I became addicted to were Duke Nukem, Llamatron, The other one where the little alien has to go through various levels shooting green slimey things - (the one where there's the 'invisible' level, which is only accessible from time to tim (the name has slipped me for now, but I'm sure it'll come back when I rummage around and restart it now)), Humans...
Crashdown or TI collide are current favourites.
Edit: Finally rfemembered it was Commender Keen I was thinking of ...

I can't believe only one person mentioned The Sims!! (And Bustin' Out is actually a console game). The Sims is the best selling franchise in history I believe. Who'd'a thunk that making someone take a shower and go potty would be so engrossing?
But for a change of pace I love a good first-person shooter. Right now I'm in the middle of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. If you liked Saving Private Ryan much of this game follows the movie pretty closely. I think 007-Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64 was the first FPS that I got hooked on.

I don't have TS2 yet. Is it worth it for someone who's invested in every EP for the original.

I think it is. There's lots to do, especially if you're a "builder" more than a "player". The way that you can create custom made Sims is pretty amazing. People are creating mods (modifications)like crazy, although I haven't bothered to download anything. Some of the new fun things (which I guess were in some of the EPs of the original--I didn't have them all. ) are Whoohooing, alien abductions, shopping centers, parties, etc. The graphics are great, but one word of caution--make sure that you have the minimum system requirements and a good graphics card and turn off running processes while you run the game like they suggest, or you can get some pretty bad slowdown and stuttering.

I am definitely a builder. That's what I enjoyed most in the original. I used to dl a ton of mods then I got so much conflict I decided to do without any of them except for the ones offered directly through the Sims site itself. So is it true? You can build 3 stories plus a basement and build on hillsides?

Yep, you can build 3 stories, etc. You can also build nice additions and such using half roofs and connecting stairs. There are foundations now, so you can build on hills and have porches and stuff. I've seen some very cool chateau-type houses and castles complete with moats. I don't know if you use cheat codes or not, but the only one I use is Motherlode because for the decorating and building I like to do, it would take me several Sim years to earn the simoleans. A good site to see what other people are doing is ModTheSims2 (Note to moderators: that's a fan site, not a pay site).

Oh, I have no problems whatsoever with using cheat codes. I just don't use mods because they can cause too much conflict. Especially if you upload it and share it. Not too many people give you a list of the mods you have to dl to use the house properly. But cheat codes are built in to the game by the designers so no problems there.
Thanks for the website. I'll definitely give it a look. Have a great day and thanks for the info.

The Sims 2 sounds really good. I've only played The Sims 1 and would really like to try out Sims 2.

Grim Fandango and Monkey Island, hands down. But DOTT and The Dig were also good. Any Lucas Arts games, really. I also love Harvest Moon (all of them). They're so damn addictive!

Without a doubt the Halflife series and all the add ons. The environments in halflife2 are just amazing. Day of Defeat is my favorite on line multiplayer at the moment. Valve has done a wonderful job putting out great games.
