but then again, I am a magician.
most magicians really don't like David Blaine
he is a showman
he does nothing original
he is not unique.
I can do most of what he does with cards
and I know how he does pretty much everything else
that is what I mean by him being unoriginal.
most every layperson I've ever talked to really likes him
I guess, you gotta be in the know to really know

Like LordAndry, I too think he's an attention seeking showman and I really can't see past the magic trick/illusion that he is performing in front of a very gullible public.

don't get me wrong
I don't think that he does bad tricks
his magic is good
and he is decent with his technique
I just think there are better magicians out there
and you have never heard of them
Dai Vernon, Shoot Ogawa, Jon Armstrong, Johnny Ace Palmer
Whit Hayden, Eric Buss, James Dimmare, etc.
I'm lucky to live in LA close to Hollywood

I had never heard of him until this stunt and I haven't really taken any notice of it, I just know a man is in a plastic box being pelted with fruit.
What is the point of it? It is said that he isn't eating, just drinking water, so are we expecting him to come out of it weighing considerably less than when he went in or will he weigh much the same if this is just an illusion?

Lord Andry,i am a fan of David Blaine.
He does tricks like no other,
I saw him on tv stop someone on the street then he asked them to think of someone.
Then he pulled up his shirt and there was a picture of a girls face on his chest.
Blaine said to the man, is this who you were thinking of and the guy said yes that picture is my girlfriend,
The guy was freaked,most people ARE when they have to deal with Blains crazy indian butt.
Blaine scares people when they see him work his magic.

I think David Blaine is a good person with a great heart.
and i respect the man for sitting in that box for 44 days.
Some people throw fruit and snides,but do they have the heart to live on water for 44 days by choice.

According to the BBC News he stands to make at least £1 million, if that isn't big money for 44 days 'work' then I am not sure what is. He is to be taken to hospital as soon as he comes out of the box.
I wonder what sort of example he is setting young people who are obsessed with losing weight and who have eating disorders. Medical staff are telling anorexic people they are endangering their lives by starving and now we have a 'hero' who has done this publically and will collect a fortune for doing it.

Really? Only with god's help, and that's a fact? Fine. Show me your evidence and we'll discuss it. On the other hand, there are people in the hospital living on liquid diets. That is what Blaine is doing. He just chose to do it publicly and for a large sum of money.

You seem to be stating lots of facts without having any proof to back them up. I'm still waiting for your proof from the previous statement you made. This is not a board you can just throw "facts" around without proof. Show me your proof.

I don't know about them personally, but I believe spirituality comes into it. Of course, spirituality and christianity are two very diffierent things.
Now, I'm not sure what AA or NA have to do with David Blaine, because he isn't 12-stepping. He hasn't gone through a spiritual change to perform this stunt. I say again, if you took away the money and fame, he would not be doing this. As long as people pay him to pull stunts like this, he'll keep doing them. Had he refused the money, THEN you might have some ground to stand on.

At least he is going to be in a private hospital and not spending taxpayers' money, mind you with one million pounds, minimum, he can afford it.
He can still die, the next few days will be critical.
Personally I find it fairly offensive that a person can abuse their body this way, can risk their health, when there are good deserving people who have poor health and can do nothing about it. One report says that he might have suffered liver damage, if this is true, in my opinion he ought not be given a liver transplant should that be necessary.
