Scientists have produced a genetically engineered 'superpotato' that glows when it needs water. They injected potato plants with a fluorescence gene from a luminous jellyfish. The night-light nightshades are not intended for human consumption, but would signal to a farmer that the rest of his field should be watered.

(Wouldn't glow-in-the-dark french fries and green ketchup be a hit with the kids..??)
