I recently upgraded to NAV 2004, and I am having horrible problems. I started having a ccApp error. When that happened, my computer would freeze up. I went online and checked out their tech support, and it said to reload their drivers, so I did that. Rebooted. I'm still having trouble, only it's gotten worse. Now, when I try to shut down my computer, it freezes on the shutdown screen. It won't let me do a scandisk or defrag. Sometimes it still gives me a ccApp error and freezes in the middle of whatever I'm doing. I'm about to uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn't work, I uninstall and get a refund. I'm so aggravated right now. Has anyone else had problems with NAV 2004? If so, did you fix it and what did you do?

BTW, I'm in the process of doing the uninstall, and I'm trying to load the web pages for tech support to make sure there isn't something I need to do during the reinstall, and I can't even get their friggin pages to load.

*insert several very very bad cuss words here*

I don't have any experience of Norton AntiVirus so can't be very helpful. However, a search of the Symantec site brings up a number of entries about ccApp error messages. They refer to NAV 2003 but may still be relevant. Just type ccApp error into the search box there. (I tried linking directly to the results but it won't let me).

What exactly does the error message say?

telly,

I was following the procedures the Symantec tech support website gave me. I now have it uninstalled. I will reinstall it in the enxt day or two when I am off work and can play with it. If I still have problems, I'll just get a refund and reinstall the old version I have which never gave me problems.

Kelly, you are not the only one with Norton's 2004 problems, I loaded it last night and this morning I can't open Outlook Express, I don't have time to mess about just now as I have a plane to catch, I am having to access my mail through web browsers instead which means that I can't get at my address book. My problems appears to be something to do with msimn.exe but that will just have to wait until after Christmas.

I did a clean sweep of Norton, deleted everything off the hard drive, rebooted, defragged, fiddled a little more, and finally reinstalled it. I have only seen the ccApp error once since then. Seems to be behaving itself for the moment.

Good luck working through it. It's a pain in the tail.

And Merry Christmas

I have Norton Antivirus 2000 on my computer and I'm planning to buy & install
the 2004 version. Is anyone still having problems running or installing the 2004
version? Is there a better antivirus scan than Norton that I could download?

I installed Norton Systemworks 2004, which includes NAV 2004, last Wednesday and it was not an easy job. The program itself hasn't given me any problems worth mentioning, but the activation was a pain. Activation is necessary for the program to work after an initial 15-days period, but somehow my code wasn't accepted. Phone activation was necessary to make it work, but the screen you need for that only shows up once, during the first time you run the program. So I had to de-install the entire program, reinstall it and activate over the phone.

But, in the end it's working fine. I don't know how things would have gone if I'd just installed NAV instead of NSW, so I don't know if my story is of much use to you, but I just wanted to let you know.

By the way, I was using NAV 2002 before and I don't see much difference between that version and the 2004 one.

My dad uses a free anti-virus program that can be found here. I have no experience with it, but he likes it.

Thanks for your reply, Leau78. I'm going to keep the 2000 version and probably purchase updates for the virus definitions. I haven't had any problems running the antivirus program so no need to buy a new edition, I suppose...I hope.
