I really hate it when I feel like I am loosing control of my own computer. As far as I am concerned Pop up are the height of the envision. Planting on my own harddisk the program and info to continually annoy me with unwanted ads.
I do a pretty good job of keeping cookies weeded out, keeping only the ones I want, like funtrivia and other sites that I regularly visit. If you have not looked at your C/Windows/ Temporary internet files/ it may be worth taking a look at. You may be surprised at who is inside your computer with cookies, programs and pop ups.
A good way to get there is to click Tools\ Internet options\ temporary internet files--settings \then view files. Once you get there you can sort by file type, date or what ever you want by just clicking on the heading.
If you are unsure about what to delete, remember you can restore it from your recycle bin. Or you can move it from your recycle bin to a file just for that purpose. Some will be quite obvious, like "ads"or "BadPopups. And there are others like fastclik, ad.doubleclick.net, advertizing.com, a10.com, global-finder.com, bad.com. This not the only place that can cause your computer to act like it is controlled by an invisible force, but it is a good place to start.

I haven't ran across most that you have on your list, but I've put those sites on my restricted list along with *.gator.com and *.xupiter.com.

I think both of the latter got me got me. My Ad-aware found them.

I'm not sure if I've blasted them from my computer. Anyone have any suggestions?

I frequently delete temp files and cookies, en masse. I don't try to save any because if any of my favorite sites ask me to log in with name and password, I know that they have dropped cookies on my computer. It's no problem to log back in.
The real problem is when spy-ware is installed after visiting a site; that's why I run an anti-spyware program frequently. I don't think that we will ever get rid of programs that essentially look at, and report back to headquarters, our private activities on the Internet.
It's like looking through my underwear drawer; I resent the intrusion, as does everyone else.

Yes me too. I really like Spybot for that. Quick and efficient.
