Though I always used O. E. for mail, I used to use Outlook for memos, as it had a filofax lined memo and similar diary pages. Eventually the whole lot packed up and had to be deleted. Being pre 98 it's virtually pointless to try and reload, but what I would like to know is:
Can I get the same functions on Outlook Express?

I can't believe the newer program doesn't have the features of the old one. I recently upgraded to the latest O. E., but though the index of subprograms is the same as outlook, they all put me back to email regardless. As this is my 3rd O. E. version, it appears there is a function implied but missing. Have they really made an index of contents designed to end in a cul-de-sac, or can it be fixed to provide the only memo program I ever wanted to use?

I have never used Outlook but wonder if what you had was some sort of integration between Outlook and Outlook Express. Maybe if you had a newer version of Outlook you'd get the missing function back within Outlook Express.

On the other hand, if you were to get Outlook I suppose you really wouldn't need to have Outlook Express installed.

No,, not that I know of.
The first version of outlook I saw thrilled me. It used Word for spell check. Had fax functions. I naturally thought it was a full blow version of the outlook express I had been using. But I could not import my address from Express. I could not save my old e mails. And it seem to susceptible infections. I believe the two programs are not related at all and were bought by MS. The later versions may have improvements and intergration. In fact I have heard it is greatly improved. I believe Outlook was one of the programs listed as being a target of virus recently.
I still use a 97version outlook on my other computer for a fax function.
